Out of interest has anybody changed their mind on their initial stance on Hodgson i.e from Roy In to Roy Out or vice versa?
It’s not so much a question as to whether a replacement could/ would be available or the suitability of such a candidate.
It’s just a question of whether your views on his management has changed over 6 months and why.
I suspect the vast majority will stick to their original views as supporters are wont to do.

I think I've changed Patrick. I was previously leaning to Roy out and that we'd needed to dump him to advance. While that's still true imo I take a more nuanced approach and think Roy has been doing exactly what management wants him to do, stay in the EPL without huge spend and given those parameters has been doing the best job anyone could expect one to do.

For the future we need new blood as manager but only when the BoD decides to take off the restraints and that now is the time to make the on-field product better. Until then, what we see is what we get.

So, I'm Roy in until the decision is made to have definite goals that would require us to improve the team. Then we can change.

It's an interesting question Patrick, and, as someone else has said the levels of hysteria about this particular issue have thankfully settled somewhat.

Like many on here I wasn't a big fan before he joined Palace, but I do believe he's done well and kept us in the league with very little resources. His style of play isn't exciting, but I do want us to still be competing with the big teams next season. So, how we achieve that is irrelevant to me.

The fact is that since this thread started, and it was actually before I registered to have my two penneth, I have not changed my view. He must stay until his contract expires at least.

We do need fresh blood at the club both in the management and the players. But, to even think about him ending his time with us at this point is unthinkable.

At the same time as trying to tap this out I am watching Spurs beating Fulham and at half time Jake Humphrey remarked about how crazy this season has been.

So, crazy season, limited resources, injuries - all contribute to the current situation we are in. But, 34 points and 13th in the Premiership doesn't look too bad to me.

Keep Calm lads and carry on till we can make change for the better, not just because we don't like the way we're playing.

Don't know where this will fit in. I keep being distracted by the match. Fulham are not half bad, just can't find the net. Spurs on Sunday, that's another matter.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

In defence of Roy, every team has looked terrible to me, its like the players have just had enough now, need the fans back. City haven't been better than they was the last couple of seasons they just have enough world class players that atleast one will play out of their skin every game.

The football is still terrible and take into account his age, the massive changes needed to the squad, we would be stupid to stick with him, get a new young manager with his own visions and cross our fingers and hope it works out.

Roy will leave at the end of this season he will walk away with his head held high. He’s done another fantastic job. Huge respect from me. Best manager ever.

I have changed my mind Patrick, yes.

Prior to this season I was very much of the mind that Roy should stay, hoping that the performances and return of one point from eight games at the end of last season was very much an exception.
This Season however I have moved very firmly to the Roy should go view point. I am extremely grateful for out continued participation in the Premier League and his efforts in achieving that however, the appalling performances and dire football for much of this season have proved too much for me now and I would like to see a replacement Head Coach ASAP.

The two pathetic cup exits and our performances against Chelsea, Brighton (x2), Wolves, Leeds, Burnley (x2), Newcastle, Liverpool, Villa and Fulham have all been an advertisement of why NOT to go and watch the team. The most awful, dull and embarrassing performances, during which recently the commentators and pundits have just been laughing at us.

I fully respect the views of those who would like him to stay and serve up yet more of the same, purely to survive in the PL but for me It’s time for a change.

Pundits and others have laughed at us all of the years I have supported Palace.
We have still ended up in the Premier division , on a limited budget.
Where we still gain enough points to make their comments , and attitudes of no consequence, unless . It ever becomes a fact that there is any real fairness in the financial set up of top league football.
We all want to see our team , play with a bit more flair, but not at the expense of rarely winning , it makes little difference if the pundits like what we do to gain pts . They have said they liked the style, and not laughed at so many relegated teams I can’t count.
It’s often said even here that we win lucky. What a load of tosh, we have won to often over four years to put it to down to luck. Even in the hardest backs to wall games its never all luck , luck has its place in the game but it never plays a roll for long. It’s down to know how. Teams have shots and miss , not luck, goalkeepers make lots of saves ,not luck,. The fact is It might not be stylish, and might not be expansive enough to win top titles, but it makes the best of a limited squad. If the pundits have laughed in recent weeks thats up to them
because we have been collecting points the other teams with more so called style haven’t . They can laugh all they like if we don’t entertain them. But in the facts of football terms they should be careful who they laugh at.

Interesting comment by Roy in the press conference when asked about all of the players whose contracts are expiring and whether or not they will be renewed

I can't answer what will happen to those players or what route the club will take - if you want an answer to that, you've got to speak to the policy makers and I'm an employee, not a policy maker

I would come under the `has changed his mind category` from stay to go. Thats just the headline though. The reality is I felt and said he should stay when the thread started and that every manager has a natural lifetime and imo we were not at that point but it would come. I think it has come with various factors aligning.

I have felt this for a few weeks, in particular this last period.
Never mind what the club do. This must be the cross roads moment for him. As he says he has little to no control. Hodgson, has always been a careful coach, not always a totally negative one, as he is getting flack for right now. His situation in trying to keep this club in the race with minimal help from upstairs must have worn thin with him.he still praises his players, he is a pro, he never would not. He knows this lot have given their all , and don’t deserve putting down.
That doesn’t mean he thinks there is any chance of winning anything with them,. And let’s face it that has been more or less the case since he arrived . It’s true to say having Wilf, has helped him get over many a hill, but that only highlights the failures of getting anything significant done with the squad in general.
