The more I consider our options the more I am coming to the view that we need to plan for a 5 year period and commit to a Manager who is on the rise (a track record of promotions and some EPL experience is a huge bonus). As Dyche showed at Burnley- getting relegated didn’t suddenly make him a bad manager did it! He showed that the following year by having a plan, believing in his philosophy and being backed by the club - they won promotion back to the Premier League at a canter. At least if we went for Howe we’d do it in some style! I think the Palace set up with the training ground improvements and academy investment is becoming a good environment for a Manager. If Roy remains at the club in another capacity he could be a very useful source of support for a younger Manager like Howe and this would help him to flourish. Honestly, the more I think about it the more I feel Howe is a really good fit for us. Didn’t he do poorly at Burnley aswell. He finished mid table and left because he was home sick. I think Dyche took over from and got Burnley promoted with a fraction of the funds Howe had at Bournemouth. He is over hyped because he plays nice football and he is English. Dyche is a much better manager in my opinion, getting Burnley to Europe is a great achievement given the resources. His teams concede a hatful of goals, he wastes millions and got a team relegated. Then walked away instead of trusting his abilities to get them back up. No thanks

Did Eddie's team play nice football against us last season or did they muster one decent shot over two games despite playing ten men for much of the first ? Edited by Rachid Rachid Rachid (20 Mar 2021 10.15pm)

A lot of people want Dyche. Why would he leave one lower mid table premier league team for another? Especially as he has credit in the bank where he is and won’t be coming to a bigger budget or team? If Roy retires, I’d like Howe Experienced, young and will try and instil some attacking intent. I don’t think Dyche is an option.

I agree. I don't think there's any chance of us getting Dyche as he has no reason to move and I doubt we could provide an adequate incentive to him or Burnley to let him go. So Howe is the best option to my mind.

How much will Dyche have to spend and what his relationship like with the owners? Yes we don't spend much either but it is not impossible that Dyche is fed up and fancies coming south.

However, he left Burnley on 12th October 2012 and joined Bournemouth on 14th. We ain’t going to get Dyche, but that doesn’t mean we should settle for a reject instead. He failed at Burnley where Dyche succeeded. He got Bournemouth relegated and then walked away when he could have stayed like Dyche, Farke, Parker and got promoted back to the prem. I hate managers who fail in the prem and then instead of taking a step back to earn there strips, they think they should walk into another prem job. Wilder, Howe, Wagner, Hughes, Bruce.....etc Why don’t we do something which is not Palace and follow a modal of Southampton/Brighton and do some actual research/scouting. FdB didn’t work out, but that doesn’t mean we should NEVER go for an international manager ever again. We all want to move forward and push up the league. So why don’t identify a winner and go after him/her instead of appointing a loser?

One the one hand I would like Fulham to stay up. On the other hand if they do Scott Parker will not be coming to us! Mind you in some ways it would be neat to have three SPs - Selhurst Park, Steve Parrish, Scott Parker. But unfortunately I can see Eddie Howe coming so he better be a lot, lot better than I currently think he is!
