I'm thinking the same. For me the best fit is someone who sees us as a medium to long term project and wants to make it happen. We don't want someone who's going to do an Ancelotti and disappear when a better offer comes along. Who the right person is, I'm not really sure.

Valérien Ismaël for me all day long. But appears more likely to be Cooper.

We're the Arthur over ere!

He lost Jimenez and of course Jota was sold to Liverpool and these players had scored 42 goals between them in all competitions the previous season.
Doherty was sold to Tottenham and he lost Jonny to injury and these were influential players for them.

A pundit said recently that Wolves created the same amount of chances as previous season but the difference was that they didn’t have Jimenez to finish the chances off this season.

I'd be surprised if the Everton vacancy made much difference to our chances of getting Nuno, in so far as they would be slim enough anyway. I cannot fathom why he'd want to take the step down that we represent from what he had at Wolves in terms of backing and (and this is the true lifeblood of managers) the opportunity to do better than the previous season for at least two years if not three, including taking the club to different levels of football quickly (Championship, Premier League and then Europe in wolves case). We offer none of this.

If I were interviewing Nuno I'd start by asking him to explain his interest in the post. We need someone with a three year plan to make us both different and better, and the new man has absolutely got to commit to the duration. Those three years might involve some short term pain for longer term gain, which ain't going to be fun, and even if it all goes swimmingly the best end result is scraping into the top ten, maybe a one off place in some Europa conference preliminary qualifying round that starts before the fa Cup final. Nunos already done better than that, why would he sign up for less at best?

I'd be happy to have him, but I'd be f***ing suspicious too.

I can't decide whether I'm more excited about the new manager being unveiled or the new manager unveiling the new kit...

Nuno with maroon and green stripes or Frank with a predominantly blue home shirt?!

I still think Frank would be a good choice as he would promote young players and possibly bring a couple of Chelski youngsters

You can't deny that the likes of Mount, James, Gilmour, Tomori, Abraham all benefited from his time as manager.

With Tuchels success then could be in for a long wait going back there and we are not exactly fierce rivals of theirs that would put him off managing us.

I'm intrigued too. I've no doubt he'd have the work ethic and mentality to succeed. It's just all down to experience at this stage I reckon. He took Chelsea to 9th with all their world class talent. Is he really going to be able to keep us up with ours?

Chelsea's youth development has been on a different planet to ours. They loan their prospects to top tier and second tier sides across Europe. Where they shine. We loan ours to low league teams. Where they still struggle.

You may credit Lampard but for me the jury is very much out. I'm not down on Lampard, just think he'd be unlikely to suit us right now. Or he is at least a high risk choice

Why would Nuno spend a reported three days talking over the Palace job unless he was interested, it’ doesn’t make sense nor would it be professional and to be honest why would he or his agent do that wasting everybody’s time and effort.
I would also had thought that the first aspect of any talks with any new manager who every he is would be investment in players and transfer funds. I really cannot see Steve Parish holding talks without some sort of funds for players. I my opinion I believe the board were never going to give Hodgson a new contract, as it was stated the club wanted a new direction on style of play. We were all moaning about the last transfer window and the lack of transfer dealings could it be that fund have been held back or in place for the new manager knowing that Hodgson’s contract was not going to be renewed.

Which will be a very underwhelming appointment and a one way ticket back to the Championship come May 2022.

Still have to have the bottle to play them though and more pressure on results at a top club to finish top 4, which ultimately cost him his job.

No doubt they have a stronger academy but we have had reward from our academy too
