It is very worrying now.
His reason for walking away is no more than a generic excuse.
Expect him to turn up elsewhere very soon!
It can't be transfer funds - they would have dealt with that early doors.
Something else has made him walk away.
Time will tell the real reason.
We are now in the mire - serious trouble.

I reckon, if we change our name to "Pant Wetters United", or "Drama Rovers", we'll be much better placed to attract a manager.

Just my tuppence....

I think it's simply the enormity of the task ahead... We have a squad in pieces that is going to take a massive rebuild.

I've said all along you really do have to question how an established Premier League Club can allow it's first team squad to get to a position where around 13 of it's players are out of contract and it has the oldest average age in Premier league history.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Now I really don’t understand this, Ok people change their minds Fact, you cannot help that, but if Favre has changed his mind because as reported the transfer funds are not huge. Then this bloke does not live in the real world. Football world wide is taking a hammering, clubs are losing revenue left right and centre. Every club is being hit by the Covid restrictions. World finances funds are being hit wages, contracts everything about sport, industrial the bloody world is in turmoil and he does a u turn because funds are not as they use to be. Extremely disappointed yes….rant over

Whilst everything you say is true you forgot to mention that other clubs don't have half of their ageing squad out of contract and needing to be replaced

It can only be down to poor management

It's going to be Marco Silva isn't it?. The news that we even interviewed him fills me with dread. The bloke is useless and is a guaranteed ticket to the championship

Well this is disappointing and I'm kicking myself for getting carried away when again it was based on paper talk and not a done deal. I wonder if it can be pulled out of the fire or we have to move on. This is going to be tough for Parish now. Unless all the media coverage has put us on the radar of other managers perhaps? Wishful thinking. Ah well, time to step away from this thread again. It'll happen when it happens.

Where does the club go from here?
The way it’s been reported the initial contact about the job came from both Nuno and Favre rather than us approaching them.
It would seem that discussions with them have only happened and broken down in recent weeks.
What had been our strategy about recruiting a manager since Roy informed the club he was going to stand down?
Surely we’ve been putting out feelers and canvassing the market tacitly since Roy informed us of his intentions
.
It’s difficult to puta positive spin on this.
If we put recruitment on hold until a new manager is appointed players we are interested in may well consider alternative options.
If we try and bring them in without a new manager, when the appointment is made the new manager may not rate the players we’ve brought in.
There is also the issue of all the players who are out of contract in the next few days.
If Dyche, Cooper or Lampard was going to join I think it would have already happened.
Anybody now could be seen as a poor third choice which can’t be helpful although a healthy pay package may ease any hurt feelings.

So it seems that Favre feels he is not ready to return to football.
Then why agree to met representative of a football club, I donot believe his agent has gone over his head and talked to Steve Parish without his consent.
Why agree to become CPFC manager,
Why agree a three year contract.
I do not believe for one minute Steve Parish would hold back transfer funds information to the last minute. Reported Favre had concerns over the size of transfer funds and didn’t realise the task in hand with CPFC. So all of a sudden Favre becomes a novice, he knew what the CPFC job entailed he has vast experience in the football world
Why lead everyone up the garden, if he is not ready to return.

I really do not believe for one minute Favre does not have anything else lined up. It seems strange and funny how Benitez appointment has gone cold considering he was going to be, as reported Everton’s new manager within 48hrs, second thoughts because of the Everton fans fury at Benitez Liverpool links . In my opinion Favre has been got at just like Nuno. Wouldn’t surprise me if he named Everton manager over the next two weeks.

So now it’s back to square one. This is not Steve Parish fault it wouldn’t surprise me that he isn’t angry and guttered like us all this morning. I honestly think he thought like us that thought he had the next CPFC manager in the bag.
To add insult to injury, If this Favre news isn’t bad enough, yesterday evening I saw a report that certain members within this football club want to give Marco Silva ( Mr Clueless ) the ex Watford and Everton manager another opportunity, another windup media story but if that is the case, god help us.

Gutted, woke up this morning to see the updates and heard this news.

Now being reported on Sky Sports: [Link] which goes add real credibility to it's off if there was any doubts.

`Only a work permit and the finalising of contracts with his backroom team was keeping Palace from officially announcing his appointment.` Hmmmm only finalising the contracts of his backroom staff...where have we heard that before?
