I would’ve surprised if talks haven’t opened with Roy to come back for next season.

On my trip to the beach today, I bumped into someoneI know locally who had friends from Wales staying with them. The Welsh chap has been a Newport Co devotee for many a year and was trying to find out the latest developments from me,shaking his head at what he has read in the media.I told him that Steve Parish will have a busy and challenging weekend with a brow corrugated with worries! As part of our conversation he mentioned that his club signed Darcy Blake from us and more recently Ryan Inniss on loan.

Parker leaving Fulham and Bilic could come into the reckoning. Both have Premier experience, Parker had a s*** squad last year, but may of learnt a lot. Bilic did a good job at W Ham, W Brom had no hope as didnt spend any money until too late.

Bilic is manager of Beijing Guoan and signed a 2 year contract early this year.

If the media is to be believed and we are going to go for Cooper then I hope we don't mess about and get it done quickly. He certainly wasn't a preferred choice of mine based on what Swansea fans had said about him, but if he is coming he will need as much time as possible to find his feet. I also hope that he is backed in the same way Nuno or Favre would have been. The big plus in Cooper's column is his knowledge and understanding of working with youth players and his potential to attract players he has worked with for England U17s. If he has a strong coaching set-up and a good assistant (Mike Marsh coming with him?) then this could help him develop the tactical side of his game. He is young and ambitious and he has shown he can get the most out of limited resources. Added to that, if he does work out he is more likely to stick around for at least a few seasons than the likes of Nuno or Favre, and if he doesn't work out he'll probably be cheaper to get rid of! Of course there are many question marks over him, but I think there are potential positives too and if he comes in we need to give him a chance and focus on those.

Cooper wasn't my initial choice by a long shot but I'd much prefer him to Lampard, for example. At least he's got where he has on merit rather than through a playing reputation. His work with young players ticks a big box for me as well. At this point we just desperately need someone so get him in and let's try and get the squad in some sort of order before we get gubbed all season.
We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold... |

I hear what your saying there Taylor’s but what a come down! I’m trying to find the positives but honestly, I find the prospect of Cooper very depressing.
