I believe your first statement. You don't trust anyone who is an expert unless they happen to agree with your world-view.

The second is simply wrong. My approach is grounded on hard facts and a lifetime of experiences, including some pretty hard knocks along the way.

Your pomposity nearly trumps your dissembling.

People who live outside London do visit the capital. Those who do don't need to stand and stare at it to be aware of it. Or have an opinion, as is so richly demonstrated here. That you think it is only the issue of a man who lived 100 years ago, in another country, that is being confronted is, of itself, evidence of a wider issue being confronted.

If they don’t need to see it then it doesn’t need to be there. QED.
The “wider issue” has been confronted since the 1950s. It’s been confronted by politicians, authors, songwriters, journalists, artists, activists, sportsmen, etc.
Now more confrontation but still no solution; in fact, according to the media, the situation is getting worse.

If you think speaking the truth is pompous, then OK, you are entitled to your opinion, but it's rather a sad one. In my opinion, of course.

I would much rather be regarded as pompous by you, than be regarded as incapable of understanding obvious facts, which is how I regard you

What I actually said was that they don't need to see it for them to be aware of it. It does though have to be there.

Who knows if, or when, there will be a solution. Drip, drip, drip can eventually erode a mountain. It just takes enough drips and time.

For which the evidence is clearly there.

The arguments in favour were always emotional, rather than factual.

Six months in and you can guarantee its bad. Do you use tea leaves for your predicting.

Would be quite a laugh if the fourth plinth was given over to Jim Davidson.
There would be indignant outrage from the usual frothing benders.

As even the most fervent of the "take back control" mob admitted that we would suffer an economic hit, there is no need for too much predicting.

Whether you wanted a Brexit, or not, did not depend on whether you thought the UK would benefit financially. That it hasn't and will take many years to get back to where it was, with the pandemic making that worse, only adds fuel to the argument.

If you haven't noticed the price rises and stock shortages, would you kindly tell me where you shop because I have. I will predict that the inflation rate will rise quite steeply this year.

Don't think Jim Davidson would create too much genuine debate, would he? He is just a funny guy who even the most liberal can still enjoy. Having the p*ss taken out of you can be amusing, so long as you actually have a sense of humour.

Err, no. The most liberal don’t enjoy him all that much.
