needles either.

but why should anybody who isnt going to help beat covid be able to enjoy the perks of trying to get rid of it?

like i said, f*** em. its a selfish POV and nothing else.

You do realize that the medical procedure you agree to do, is to protect yourself.
It stops you, hopefully from a bad infection.
If someone feels they can handle the virus, that is down to them.

Both can get the virus, therefor both can spread the virus.

To tell someone they cannot enter society, based on that decision is wrong.

How do you explain Israel right now? One of the most jabbed nations, going through horrific numbers... gone up since the jabs were introduced..

You slap a coke, burger or beer or fag out of someone's hand to save the nhs from over crowding? How many die from cancer, obesity, alcohol in the uk?? Millions, yet no one seems to want to mandate fast food restaurants, stop the sell of smokes!

this has been made so political, to the point people like you are feeling self righteous telling others where they can or can't go... this needs to stop.

it stops the spread 100% does it?

That's deeply unconvincing to be honest. It's a partial vaccine that you take to protect you and, crucially (though you seem to miss the point) others.

i hope you dont give covid, and potentially kill your your parents or family due to your ignorance.

please elaborate where your “informed decision” comes from??? as i would love to read about your reasoning.

Edited by braunstoneagle (03 Sep 2021 8.58pm)

My informed decision is my own decision I looked at pro's and cons! I am not anti vax as I have had previous jabs. I have chosen not to take this one for my own reasons!

The only ignorance is that of yourself! Whether I am vaccinated or not I can still spread the virus and so can other people who are. It only really stops me having symptoms if I get it! Not anyone else! Therefore it is my decision and it should be respected!

As I respect your decision to get it! I would never tell someone to not get it or too get it! I completely respect your decision as you should mine!

As a matter of interest we’re you travelling from Ireland? If so, Police are normally present as it is Common Travel Area and therefore no other agencies present.
The fact airlines have not checked them, shows what they think of the system.

That is from Ireland, yes.

My understanding is that it reduces the spread, which is not as good as 100% but is plainly better than nothing, both for you and others.

The reduction in spread following vaccination comes partly because the vaccine appears to have the chemical effect of reducing your contamination level, though the extent of that effect is not yet fully clear, but also because it reduces your risk of catching it. Obviously, if you have less chance of catching it then you have less chance of passing it on. I am struggling to see why that's unclear.

Your point about the weight placed on the NHS by peoples poor diet and smoking is a poor one in this context. Aside from passive smoking (now greatly reduced following the smoking ban) a person causes no harm to others by eating badly, getting fat and smoking. Whether the tax levies on fats and fags are appropriate to cover the costs the individual may place on the NHS is debatable, but irrelevant to our conversation. A person refusing to eat well and not smoke harms themselves, one refusing the vaccine may harm others. Again, why this point evades people is beyond me.

On your final point about this issue becoming political, I'd say it was more social than political, but either way its inevitable. Notwithstanding any serious medical vulnerability a person might have, risks that may be associated with the vaccine generally apply to whoever takes it. I've taken it to keep me slightly safer, but also out of obligation to you. You've not taken it because you've only thought of yourself. I can't change that, but I can ask that you not have the same privileges as me, as you haven't earned them like I have.

Do you test yourself with a Pcr test before every time you see any of your family? If not, get over yourself. Your protection isn’t as good as you think it is.

Yeah man! There's no need for testing going to the UK from Ireland as it's a common travel corridor!

But to return to Ireland I need a PCR test!

no i dont especially when visiting family, however i usually have 2 PCR tests and 5 lat flow on a weekly basis because of work so it gives me a good idea i dont have the virus.

wether or not some deem it over the top i have a duty of care to my staff at work & those i see outside of work.

everybody has their own take & opinions on how serious covid still is, but personally i would rather eer on the side of caution rather than go striate back to normal!

It’s a bizarre one alright. I was back in Ireland in July and had the same situation, plenty of tests going back to Ireland but entered Holyhead with not a question asked.
