A perfectly reasonable take since you held the same view about police storming into a vigil (which is of course worse). If someone is consistent in their view then fair enough, there is little to criticse. If principles fly out of the windows the second they are inconvenient or are contingent on some ever present racial angle, then they aren't principles to begin with.

Except that the vigil was taking place during a lockdown, and after it had been expressly forbidden.

Bizarre. I mean it's not a good thing if he tried to short change them, but someone raising it as a 'concern', and it leading to a misconduct trail?! Talk about too much time on their hands.. They could've just told the bloke to stick a quid in and that would be that.

Totally.

Seems like a common sense failure from all concerned.

Did he lose his pension?

I don't know.

But God let's hope it wasn't as low as that.....it's nuts enough as it is.

Still, the inquiry failed to answer whether they're biscuits or cakes.

I used to put the manager's name in front of Red and Blue but got fed up with changing it. If someone cool becomes our manager then maybe..

Red and Blue Army!

AKA adhering to law. You can't appeal to that as an overriding principle one minute and then do the opposite the next. If you personally approve of a law when people are not adhering to it they are 'shameful' and the police 'are the blunt instrument that upholds the law.' to be 'respected'.. and yet when you don't approve of the law suddenly the police are 'pathetic' and you are amused at people physically threatening them as they attempt an arrest.

Its fine to think that hate speech laws as a load of guff but I find it absurd that you demonstrated strident moral and legal approval for women attending a peaceful 'outside' vigil getting a heavy-handed response from police (especially considering they are there due to a police officer murdering a woman), and yet you completely flip all of that on its head when its something that personally matters to you (as in race related).

Oh well, amusing and depressing in equal measure to see the way people carry on sometimes. Have a good evening.

Kind of inbetweeny in my book.

Not really he effectively stole them and then lied when challenged. I suspect the lying was what did for him. I wish we had more of this the Police are supposed to be above reproach and yet daily we see officers doing wrong and getting a slap on the wrist.

My work colleague was sacked for taking a doughnut from the bakery in M&S he deserved it, almost every day we were told it was a sackable offence to graze I never did.

Ceasar's wife has to be above suspicion.

One more point

If you can't see the difference, then I can't be bothered to explain for too long.
One group were football fans at a match, doing what fans regularly do. The others were partly a protest group wilfully and purposefully exploiting a vigil and defying a lockdown and a ban which was put in place to protect the public.

Can't say I agree with sacking people from under giving to the staff canteen.

I agree it's a talking too...even a warning if it's going to involve lying and denial about it...dock his pay for god's sake, stick him on traffic duties. But losing your job for this?.....Hell nobody in Liverpool would ever get a job!

He probably thought they were after him and if he did he was certainly correct.

they're cakes as cakes go hard and biscuits go soft as they age. This is a famous VAT decision made against McVities.
