Who next to feel the full force of the wrath of CP? Presumably none of these

Did they all put into a position of power someone known for being a sexual predator then? I guess you know more than I

I agree with you on one point but not the other.

The issue I have with Bojo stems from one event.

Before that event he was a lovable, cuddly oaf hosting HIGNFY and winning London twice. Sufficiently far away from me not to have any negative impact; and he seemed to deliver on his promises to a sufficient degree (although those impacted by his two terms may differ on that).

After that event, I saw him as a self-serving, entitled liar who places his own legacy above all else.

The event was his "decision" to back Leave. Now, take any of the unlikely alliance of frothing, gammon right or the Corbynista, Trotskyite left and they will display their lifelong commitment to get this country out of the EU for varying reasons. Ask them the question and the answer will be replied with force in an instant.

Bojo? He said he "agonized" over the decision for 3 days. THREE DAYS??!? Did he not know the answer when asked? Had he never given the question that has dogged Tory politics for decades any thought at all?

Clear evidence to me that he took a calculated risk, saw a yawning gap in a fence and ran through it. Remain represented the majority of parliamentarians with considerable talent and competition for leadership. Despite manifestly huge grassroot support, in Parliament Leave was largely the dim, polar extremes of disaffected politicians crying out for a front man as they utterly lacked the skills to lead themselves.

It was a no-brainer. But for him; not the country. While he can lead that disparate rabble (who couldn't?), he obviously lacks the skill to lead this proud nation. He is a highly electable party gimmick but no more. He is no statesman; and the desperate efforts by his minders to keep him out of the public eye as much as possible could only get him so far.

As to him not being a Tory, among the amusing comments from the character creation and fellow HOLer Willo that sticks out is that the Tory party is very broad church. It encompasses both the Tory party you recognise and vote for and the liberal center that you detest (and possibly much else). And it always has. If it did not this country would be a 3-party state as a right-of-right party would never win anything in the west or in any urban seats. It would be a party of the shires where a blue rosette on a pig would still win the seat.

That was quite an enjoyable post to read despite my piggy gammon politics being summarily butchered for bacon within it.

I can't say I recognise the intellectual gap between MPs on remain/leave. Just off the top of my head there's Mogg, Gove, David Davies and of course plenty of pretty bright people worked on that campaign like Lord Frost and of course famously Cummings....these aren't dullards.

Sure all large groups are broad churches....however, it can't be said that the Tories haven't shifted to the left on social issues. The Tories of my youth would have never have signed up to Blair's 'hate speech' crap.

That said, there was much to agree with in your post....I don't like duplicitousness and it can't be reasonably denied that the two faced monster is a major aspect of Johnson's personality.

Has to be the end. Because Gove has something HUGE over him. Ever since he scuppered Johnson's leadership bid after Cameron went.

I think Sir Keir did well today- one CONservative mp has today said he "beasted" bungle, I particularly liked "the charge of the light weight brigade" comment, the "ships leaving the rat", and the cabinet being a "z list of nodding dogs"! My moneys on Javid for next pm, at least he started the coup de gras!

I listened to Hesseltine on the radio this morning.
Someone needs to put him out of his misery - he continually banged on about Leave being the reason for everything that Boris has done wrong and that the public really want to rejoin the EU.
Arrogant, sanctimonious *rick!

Noticed that. Failed to mention his own part in the defence procurement scandals that actually meant Thatcher had to go. He congratulated himself for standing against her when he was as much to blame. Only the poll tax apparently. "That's not a gun, this is a Super gun", "Anybody want a ride in Mark's 'copter?", "No need, we'll buy a hundred - although none exist". "Let's look tough in the world's most expensive tank". And they thought everyone had forgotten.
