When the Government have tried to deal with them they are stopped at every turn by the HRA ( introduced by Blair I believe) and those on the left who do not believe in having any form of border control.
Nice to see you admit that many of the Channel crossers are illegal migrants, not all on here agree

Genuine question. Who doesn’t? I cannot recall anyone suggesting that those coming in small boats as the result of people smuggling are anything else. They are obviously not arriving legally.

I certainly believe our old friend CP, refused to call them illegals,

I have no faith in any government that they will deal with the issue or rather not in the way I mean.

I expect they will simply stop reporting it, as for dealing with the back log it will be an unofficial amnesty as it is easy to stamp yes than it is no.

Then they will have to deal with the furore from Brits that cannot get housing or their kids into schools or register for medical aid etc because the immigrants have had first dibs.

We just don't have the infrastructure to deal with immigration on this scale

It seems the answer to your last paragraph is “we need more housing”. So long green and pleasant land!

We have had copious amount of housing built around Horsham, none of it is affordable

Up until this year almost all were asylum seekers and almost all that actually got processed were given asylum status.

In 2021, there were around 9 asylum applications for every 10,000 people living in the UK. Across the EU27 there were 14 asylum applications for every 10,000 people.

This has been going on since Tony Blair so a shortage of housing etc. is not new and they elites just keep ignoring the public.

Yep, it's the picture since the nineties and it needed focus back even then but was deliberately ignored. That picture just continues to worsen.

Housing bubbles are a deliberate economic tool, along with immigration....short term gain for long term damage....One of the worst features of democracy.

Not sure whether those figures actually prove anything. Firstly the EU27 are closer to the sources of the immigration and therefore it would be logical for those countries to receive more applications. Secondly the land area of the EU is massive compared to the UK so there is a better absorption capability. The UK therefore has a disproportionately larger problem.

It makes me laugh that Caroline Lucas MP for Brighton is always championing the plight of those crossing the channel (never appearing to differentiate between genuine and bogus asylum seekers), yet there are 3000 empty properties in Brighton which could be used to accommodate those people. NIMBY? Or does she realise deep down how impossible the situation is and just wants to complain about everything?

Sorry to disappoint you though. I doubt whether Cornwall will feature too heavily on the list, as we already have a population inflow. It's not mentioned in the article. It seems more likely to me that either extremely rural, isolated, or just plain unattractive areas, will be the primary recipients. Somewhere like the Fens, maybe?

I have had plenty of experience of looking over my shoulder when using an ATM. Some I have used have an armed guard standing watch and each ATM in a separate, enclosed booth in which only one person at a time is allowed. Add to that devices which can be inserted into the money dispenser which traps the cash, and while you go to complain, is stolen. You haven't really lived! You just think you have.

I think you're confusing an ATM machine with your wallet

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

That's a bit high tech. Usually someone will brush up against whoever is using an ATM and leave a chalk mark on their back so their mates know who to mug down the street.
