HS2 train services to be almost halved under proposal to cut costs The number of trains running on HS2 will be almost halved and services will travel more slowly in a proposed shake-up of the £72bn line as ministers scramble to save money. Will no-one put this fantasy to bed? You can hardly get a train in the north, the rest of the UK crying out for transport investment, but they have to queue behind this monstrous delusion. Euston, the worst connected terminus in the capital.

Bin HS2 now and spend money on inter connectivity outside of the South East, the South West to some extent but also the major northern centres. I would also do something substantive with local buses. I have connections in Barton Upon Humber, getting anywhere by bus, such as a hospital appointment in Hull is a nightmare and local taxis very expensive. HS2 is supported by vested interests with expensive lobbying and serves no real purpose as an addition to existing lines.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

It's incredible how the Govt will do this for asylum seekers but not for it's own citizens. Hopkins is not the best spokesperson even when her facts are correct. I would like to see UK citizens in need going to the Kent beaches and insist to be housed , fed, given a payment card and a phone. There are lawyers specialising in this industry making a lot of money. It's got to the stage where people shrug and roll their eyes and mutter about how crazy it is and this allows the Govt to keep kicking the can down the road. That whole argument is also centred around this idea that people doing jobs as important as nursing or firefighting should be happy saving lives all day for money which does not afford them any sort of social life, hobby or luxury. Is that a reasonable expectation? "Yeah you may do life saving work, but if you ate nothing but oats and pasta 7 days a week, you wouldn't need the food bank!" is not the win some people seem to think it is. At the same time as demonising key workers for being poor and not being able to budget, our Lee claims £223k a year in expenses on top of his salary.

In which case the BBC will have no problems finding volunteers and showing Lee Anderson up. PS you forgot to include child benefit and possibly in work benefits but I take your point. If the facts support you let's see the detail on the BBC. Edited by Badger11 (09 Feb 2023 4.57pm)
