His appointment makes ZERO conventional electoral success. I see him purely as being a signal that Sunak will stick with the plan, see the Tories get smashed in the next election and then let Starmer come in and take the heat for taking us back into the EU.

Covid has exposed a wonderful bit of doublethink by its opponents since the government are being blamed for being too cautious and wreckless at the same time. Better make a will out quick, not that you will be there, but his 'officers' may well be visiting your relatives. It's not only Stockton that is a s**thole, King Charles.
