It's for students! They've always been a bit weird and will grow out of it.

Very few of the students I worked with grew out of it. They were plums when they started who with time and experience became older plums.

They probably thought you were a prune then.

And as in so much else they'd have been wrong.

I may have misread this but it seems to me that this wasn’t at the request of the students but a decision taken by the University? That to me is the problem. We need to rid ourselves of these weak, liberal people who are starting to overrun our institutions and Companies with their bizarre and dangerous ideas. Weak leaders (which we have had for years, across all 3 ridiculous parties) breed a weak, needy population and that is exactly where we are. Too late the danger of this sort of thing will be recognised.

Did anyone happen to see the Richard Bacon documentary- Cancelled - on channel 4 last night? That’s worth a watch.

Yes, I think you’re right but it’s the attitude these initiatives breed that is the concern when you employ people who think their feelings are the primary concern of everybody else.
My antipathy toward students is mainly due to their presumed superiority because they’d spent three years arsing around watching daytime telly before getting a worthless qualification in an unrelated field.

Lol - I do not disagree with that. I believe that we have diluted the prestige of a university education by calling every polytechnic a uni and introducing ridiculous degrees. This, I suspect, was in relation to the ‘hey guys, you can all go to uni and get a degree in something, even if you are thick as s***’ culture that our limp and weak politicians introduced. It was not a good thing, in my opinion.

I genuinely believe that the emotionally retarded have taken over the psychiatric hospital.

Makes you wonder why the prospect is so appealing when the average student debt is estimated at between £35,000 and £50,000.

When we looked at it for my Sons (who decided it wasn’t for them) the repayments were pretty low. A few percent extra tax on the amount you earn over £23k (at the time) and it gets wiped when you’re 50. Likely that very few will ever pay it back, I suspect. That may have changed now as that was a good 9 years ago. I guess your average 19 year old will take that for 3 years of partying, attending ridiculous marches, wearing s*** clothes and living on a diet of pot noodles and vodka.

As an amusing aside, my mates wife was having a discussion with my other half on where Croatia was. My friends wife was hopelessly wrong but tried to convince us she must be right by stating (and I kid you not) - “You are wrong. I do know where Croatia is, my Son has a geography degree you know.”
Fabulous. Especially as she was out by about 1,000 miles!

That's awful stereotyping! My grandson is at Southampton Uni and working really hard. Often all day, and half the night. Not much partying in the pandemic, and certainly no protests.

Lol - I appreciate and fully understand that it’s awful stereotyping but we do that with some skill on here. So it’s probably no different from some claiming that everyone who voted Brexit is a thick racist hoping to return to the days of the empire or that everyone who voted remain is a lefty, has a little beard, wears soft sole shoes, jumbo cords and a cardigan with arm patches.

There is probably a minicab driver somewhere who shows up within “5 to 10 minutes”, knows where he’s going, takes the most direct route and refuses a tip.

Your grandson is hopefully smashing the arse off a 20 year old physcology tart and getting hammered with said vodka at least 4 days a week.
Alongside telling you how charming it is and how hard he’s studying.
Naivety has a certain quaintness
