When small groups of people are as isolated as you and your friends are, they face 3 choices. Fight a meaningless, pointless and unsuccessful battle. Adapt and make the best of it. Leave and live somewhere you are surrounded by fellow believers.

What, like to 'progressive', diverse and vibrant Cornwall?

Problem is that whilst I do understand where you are coming from on this, the reality is that they will not let these communities thrive. At best, they will be tolerated but only as long as they can still be given a beating from time to time. It effectively becomes like a form of serfdom akin to say the plight of non-Muslims living under the Ottomans or Red Injuns in Reservations.

I get the attraction but it is not the answer. The split has to be far more decisive, embracing separate legal and political systems. Now how that comes about, there is the rub and I genuinely fear the Progressive Left will not allow it to happen peacefully but we cannot bury our heads in the sand and believe our enemies will respect our desire to live apart. They want to destroy us. As simple as that. And accepting that has a clarity that is refreshing.

I think that a split might happen come an economic meltdown but mainly due to the fact that these separate communities already exist, buying within their own and using their own systems. That is happening already. The state doesn't like to focus upon it but it happens all the same as they are very aware. It's started within our community as well, but it's just more basic and small scale....but I buy their tea for example.

Yes, the groups I refer to do suffer unfair persecution compared to other political groups, however as they are peaceful I think they would run into problems trying to ban them.....as that would explicitly mean that all other identity groups would have to be banned as well....and they just don't want to antagonize those much more powerful groups.

Come a meltdown having a community is far better than not having one.

And to be fair, of late, my side has won most of the battles. The problem is the wider war which is the only conflict that ultimately matters.

But better to die than live as a slave. Would much rather be the Dinosaur that meets its end in the fresh air, telling the approaching comet that will wipe it out to go and f*** itself rather than cowering in the back of a cave, rotting in my own effluent.

Yes, I might be gone but far more likely to live on, at least in terms of legacy. That has to matter.

I too "used to have a bolthole in the east", and lived there for a while, but sold it and moved back to the UK when I realised the grass wasn't actually so green. When friends get murdered by gunshot, in a culture where such things are commonplace, where the cost of medical care is outrageous and corruption is everywhere, you realise what we have isn't so bad. Cheap food and beer, lots of sunshine and white sand beaches aren't everything, after a while.

No-one will ever make you a slave. That's just inventing problems. You won't though be able to keep slaves, as they are gradually being given their freedom, and I suspect that's what really disturbs you.

You are back on that old favourite trope.

Cornwall is very diverse. Just not in a way that fits your narrow definition.

I was thinking more of Hungary. At least until Orban gets ousted, then it might change.

Mind you, I do know of at least one similar thinker down the pub, who could do with a bit of company. He's pretty isolated.

Religion can't survive if it's not promoted so his words are purely disingenuous.

He is far more extreme than anyone else. I've never heard anyone go as far as him in that light.

If society doesn't break down then cool, he has nothing to worry about. I certainly aren't here hoping or wishing for blameless people to suffer for the policies of fools....because that is what would happen with a breakdown.

So while I have fundamental issues with the direction of modern society under neo and social liberalism.... and I do think we have been travelling towards collapse for a long time now.....I'm not going to say that it's something I want to happen because I don't.

Did I say I didn't think it could be promoted?

You can promote something without thrusting it into unwilling faces.

You take part in debates. Write books. But best of all, you can promote it by doing good works. Help the poor and needy. Serve your fellow man. Promote your values and not your dogma, and you attract good people to you and discourage the bad.
