So one individual suggests a silly idea and suddenly this is the policy of the west, to be ridiculed on a right wing TV broadcast!

What nonsense. If every stupid pronouncement by right wing individuals was given the same treatment, there would be nothing else on TV.

This is a desperate clutching at straws, which only confirms the biases of the cynical right.

In an episode of Family Guy Seth MacFarlane points out the many many Hollywood movies (he names some) where right wing characters realise that their position is wrong and end up apologizing. He then points out that this never happens with left wing characters

I think the Chinese and Soviets used to always say the Revolution had not gone far enough - whenever things went wrong. Another few hundred thousand to the death camps.

As I have never noticed anything remotely like this happening in a movie it can hardly be "many many" can it? Some people seem to want to find things to bleat about, just because they can.

Oh, they have plenty of experience of being lied to, both by governments and the older generations.

Much more likely they have been better educated on this subject. My grandchildren certainly have been.

But it's cumulative. Fifty years of lies create more cynicism than ten. And we were lied to by older generations too.

The films he mentions were Three Billboads Outside Ebbing Missouri, Driving Miss Daisy, Green Book and American History X.

The double down is human nature and the higher the stakes the more committed the entrenchment.

Perhaps I go to the movies more than you do.

Well my mind is a bit closed as I donít believe what we are being told about man made climate change. This though is interesting by the fact that oil is twice as deep as the deepest fossil. Basically oil is mineral not fossil alongside the huge amount that is still there. Does it make it cleaner? Not sure but if this has been allowed as the truth for over a century what chance is there of the decision makers actually admitting itís a big con.

Yes, your mind is closed. I guess it ran out of space

I can't allow your various nonsenses to go without comment

You agree that anthropogenic climate change exists, you just don't agree how critical that is. By the time you have made up your mind it will be too late. Where on Earth do you get your ideas? In the cess pit of the right wing headbanger interweb presumably.

Yes, you are correct that Methane is 25 times more effective as a greenhouse gas than CO2. Methane levels have roughly doubled in the past 200 years, as have CO2 levels. Methane is a carbon product.

China, the United States, Russia, India, Brazil, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Mexico are estimated to be responsible for nearly half of all anthropogenic methane emissions. A key source of methane emissions in China is coal production, whereas Russia emits most of its methane from natural gas and oil systems which leak and where the methane is largely not captured for energy.

The largest sources of methane emissions from human activities in the United States are oil and gas systems, livestock enteric fermentation, and landfills. Note, however, that methane degrades quite rapidly so leaves the atmosphere within around 9 years. Also a point of interest, termites produce more methane than cows and UK farming produces less methane per cow than other countries. We are working on new feeds to minimise methane production.

So what is your point? That it doesn't matter how much carbon we chuck into the atmosphere or that we are addressing the wrong issue?

Maybe when the methane is released from the permafrost your view may change.

Realistic Maple. I am genuinely concerned we may be past the point of no return. You had any fires near your house in the past few weeks? We've had loads. They will continue to increase and speed up climate change.

I reckon if we don't get carbon capture schemes in place soon, within our lifetime there will be untold grief.

When the Lamb broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, "Come." I looked, and behold, a pale horse; and he who sat on it had the name Death; and Hades was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by the wild beasts of the earth.

Mind you, I don't hold out a lot of hope for the wild beasts either. Let's hope we aren't in the bad fourth then.

I've been looking into buying a solar panel generator recently as part of my prep obsessionals rather than a focus upon the climate. Still, accessing free energy (though panels are really expensive) makes sense.

The UK contributes less than one percent towards global emissions so when it comes to all this 'end is nigh' stuff I regard it as rather played out.

Do they fart more methane than other creatures then?
