Brilliant. The Germans feel cheated at ANOTHER Final!

Women: Oh, FFS, we'll go and fetch it ourselves...

Well spotted Becky. I chuckled.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Such bad losers CB. Germany have won 8 women's Euro titles since 1989 and clearly think they were entitled to another.

Mind you, it was a dodgy handball VAR decision, dontcha think?

Have to say imo having played and watched Sunday league football over many years I think that the Lionesses would actually beat the majority of Sunday League teams quite comfortably. I think we have to admit that their levels of fitness, technique, agility and tactical awareness would see off most teams. Just my opinion but I think we do need to appreciate that the we men could learn and take a lot from what the women's game has. E.g. It's great to see people taking young children to matches without the fear of encountering abusive behaviour. Finally I am proud to be Palace (since 1950's) and so happy PV is bringing back the beautiful game to us!

Can't say I actually saw it. Remember the VAR check - but I can't say I remember any Of the angles I saw showing any kind of handball.

On one of the angles they replayed, the ball actually passed by her hand & arm and hit her on the shoulder joint - thus no handball.
The photos used make it look bad, but take no account of the direction of travel of the ball

I think you were watching something different. A lot of the England players controlled it further than I could kick it and and I was hardly PL standard. The basics were, well, err, performed in a fairly basic manner.

They did well to beat a side that looked technically superior but I would put that down to tenacity and a will to win rather than purely skill, the one exception being the first goal which was a nice pass and finish.

There is no argument about your second last sentence but to be honest the atmosphere at Selhurst has been good for many years and you see families enjoying themselves in the fan zone etc without any trouble.

To be brutally honest the standard of football in the ladies game is very average and I’m afraid it won’t have too many regular Palace mens supporters rushing out to watch the Palace ladies. If it attracts a different (new) audience altogether, who are more interested in a nice day out than a decent standard of football then maybe that is the way forward. There is room for that in football too but let’s not kid ourselves it’s a comparable standard.

Finally, I have to congratulate them. They beat 2 teams along the way that were far better technically and this is indicative of a together side that wants and believes they can win. It’s a shame our mens manager doesn’t have the same focused approach especially when it comes to tactics at crucial moments in games.

Their next friendly is sold out. Interesting. I wouldn't watch an international friendly with the men, let alone women.

This term has been discussed on other threads in the past, but "very average" means (give or take) that half of all football is worse than women's football and half of it is better. I therefore suspect that you mean something different.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

I reckon at least 50% of the crowd were women. So there is a whole new raft of live support out there. Bring it on.
I may even go and watch our girls this season.
