There had been talk of Graham Potter and Eddie Howe but they are ensconced at major club projects.
Frank Lampard ? - His managerial career has hardly been glittering and I suspect such an appointment might not receive universal approval.
Steven Gerrard ? - As per Frank Lampard.
I don't invisage the FA considering a foreign manager.

For what it's worth Pochettino is the current favourite with Tuchel second and Brendan Rodgers third.
Eddie Howe is up there but if Newcastle want to keep him they can pay him a fortune.

Sarina Wiegman?

She certainly knows how to navigate tournament football.

I suspect the appointment of a foreign manager would not be well received by the general public.

I believe Pochettino has expressed an interest in managing a national team.I do not know if Messrs Tuchel and Rodgers have any desire to manage on the International stage with limited access to players as opposed to the day-to-day involvement and games on a regular basis.

Already starting to not care. Deja vu really. May as well stick with Southgate and buy vanilla ice cream.

Not sure about that but I guess it depends on his (her?) success rate.
None of the available English candidates are particularly inspiring - with Howe and Potter tied up as previously mentioned we have Lampard, Gerrard and Rooney.

I have just been informed that current manager of Argentina, Lionel Scaloni, was signed on loan for W.Ham by Alan Pardew.

If you had to choose an Argentinian Lionel he wouldn't be top of the list.

I found it all rather ironic that a player who was considered too old for the PL and considered by many (on these boards too in the transfer thread), as no longer capable of producing at the top level managed to sneak in front of a player who is considered by many to be no longer capable of producing at the top level, to head in the winner.

We've got Mateta and Édouard. Why on Earth would we want Olivier Giroud?

The phrase ‘could do a lot worse’ springs to mind!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

That would really tick some boxes with the FA. My first reaction is.....why not?

I think you’re probably right with the overseas manager sentiment, Willo. However, if the overseas manager was Pochettino, I think most would be behind that.

Now the dust has settles a little, I’m of the opinion that we give Southgate another chance. We’ve made good progress under him but his inability to get the job done worries me. I thought England were terrific this WC and I don’t think I’ve ever said that
