Bournemouth could have started the process well in advance of the announcement that Gary O'Neil had been relieved of his duties and been replaced by Iraola.

Was that before or after we sacked PV Willo and were aware Roy would most likely be a short term appointment?

I've given up on predicting the board's thinking around such matters, bit of an exercise in futility as far as I am concerned.

My guessing is the obvious candidate has not emerged for them and the risk analysis for comparing another experimental manager vs sticking with Roy is ongoing and factored into any decision making. Zaha's employment situation and transfer funding may also be playing a part as well as several other things.

My gut tells me we may just stick with RH and if that is the case I, for one, will not be in opposition to the decision.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Everyone keeps saying just give the job to Roy but the last few days the rumours have been saying it is Roy who is to be convinced, not the board. If Roy isn't interested then Fonseca seems like an exciting prospect, if true (doombear the dark horse). With no big jobs available in the PL maybe he sees us as a stepping stone?

Strangely there has never been any big announcement made one way or the other as to the actual position between , club and Hodgson.
Hodgson indicated his contract ended after Forest, but never actually said good bye. There has been no announcement from club to say, thanks Roy and good bye, surely that’s the least they would do, unless the hope is he isn’t leaving .
Until such time surely Hodgson is in the frame.

I would think so including the reasons you've highlighted Putitout.

My guessing is that those in charge know to a certain extent they can keep Roy on ice as they explore other options which may not be fruitful or provide a clear direction of travel.

Good point from TL regarding Roy's stance on things however, my assumption would be that he'd be 'more than happy' however that being an assumption may well be incorrect.

I think that we won't go for a foreign manager who doesn't have any PL experience (either as a manager or player).

We will try as much as possible to keep to type.
Ie. Pulis, Warnock, Pardew, Allardyce, Hodgson

PV was acceptable because of his vast experience in the premier League.

Parish will want to avoid another De Boer disaster.

If there is no suitable "type" available this summer then I'm sure Roy will given another year.

From media stories (which can be taken with a pinch of salt) it would seem that Steve Cooper is maybe the one that Parish is looking at. It will all depend on how gets on next season, as 2nd season for promoted clubs is always tougher.

I hope we don't go for Cooper, Parish would be mad not to go for a champions league pedigree manager like Fonseca if he wants to come
to us,Fonseca has said managing in the premier league is he's dream.

I have no doubt they did. My point was they had a replacement ready to join when sacking the manager. We have not, PV sacked Feb/March, Roy was only to end of season. Pre-season not far away.

Seeing as a few peeps are still talking about Cooper, please correct me if I'm wrong, but, I thought after Rodgers had turned us down(if we were ever in for him), we/Parish decided against Cooper, due to wage/transfer kitty.

Actually, the shortlist was drawn up using a sifting process borrowed from a beauty contest, ruling him out.

I have no idea, and your suggestion sounds believable enough to either be true or the result of a decently constructed but vindictive, made up rumour.

I still feel as though the intentions and therefore actions of the board are still pretty much unknown. I’m therefore reluctant to buy such stories and have begun to take a stance of accepting complete ignorance until such time an announcement is made.

Very open to theories and suggestions however

You're a naughty boy Nick, but I think we all understand your point.

After his fine work in saving Forest from the drop, and the fact that he's contracted until '25, my own take is that he would prefer to stick around for a while longer. He tends to be loyal to his club and would take a lot of shifting.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Sky sports have announced verbal agreement with Roy and CPFC to continue as manager.

Mmmm.

Let’s hope it’s at least a 2 year deal as we don’t want to be in this situation again next season. It seems to be the only reason folk are suggesting just a one season deal is down to his age. Did anyone watch Glastonbury? Cat Stevens 75, Elton John probably 80. His drummer the same. And they actually PLAY - unlike Roy who I’d remind everybody doesn’t actually kick a ball or needs a zimmer frame to get around. Yes we can plan for the future with Roy as I wouldn’t be surprised if he lived to a 100.
