I wonder which of our present squad will be still playing for the eagles when the new stand opens?

This is very positive news and hope something appears on the club website soon to confirm.

The costs have increased substantially since the original plans were submitted, but that's the price of delay unfortunately. One of the big stumbling blocks was the issue of re-housing the folk in Wooderson Close so it's good to know (apparently) that's been sorted.

If work starts next summer as expected and it takes around three years to complete, I just hope I'm still around to see it finished.

At £150 million and all the extras like Sainsbury's,replacing housing etc,why the heck didn't we give the Crystal palace stadium in Sydnham a closer look???

They re-looked at this in 2021, and once again dismissed it as a possible option.

It's been covered extensively on this forum and elsewhere why that site is not viable.

I mean you're talking maybe in another 20 years for that sort of conversation to be happening, but as far as I'm aware the clubs only future options would be to redevelop the family stand, or knock down and rebuild the Holmesdale.

The Arthur Wait cannot be extended due to its profile and the houses that sit behind it creating planning restrictions that would be pretty difficult to get around. It could be renovated, but there's no way of adding another tier, for example.

I understood that when the Whitehorse Lane stand was built, the footings were put in place to take a second tier that would go above sainsburys.
Once the boxes are up and running in the new stand, the second tier could be built in their place.
Or, as usual, have I mis understood/dreamed this?

Keep taking the tablets. We can't afford the first proposed development let alone a subsequent one.

It's interesting how confident these local journalists are that the cost has risen by 50% when the work hasn't even gone out to tender yet.

Yes and Palace have since purchased the airspace above Sainsburys

A redevelopment of the Whitehorse would be a lot cheaper than the main stand. It is bound to happen eventually.
