Roy loves Ayew upfront there's no point

To be fair to Roy, if you had Mateta, Edouard and Ayew to choose from, then Ayew is the better player. Mateta - don't know what he is. Edouard - lazy enough. Ayew - solid international, has scored goals at this level, always tries hard but only an average players really, except for his outstanding work rate. Wins loads of fouls. Who would you honestly pick of the three? That's why we're always linked with strikers.

Interesting Willo.

Any updates this morning ??

I do not believe there will be any updates from the club.
Mr Hodgson might shed some light on the matter.

Are you trying to pretend that you are ITK again

I'm not ITK and even Dazza has left us unposted...but I don't believe Parish will not have had any conversations with Roy behind the scenes. Presumably it will be : can you stay on as manager for another season, or can you stay on as advisor or honorary good bloke. Even if Willo did know something behind the scenes, he couldn't really say anything up from right now. I'm sure scenarios will change for a lot of clubs after the last match on Sunday

Clearly a rhetorical question, and I am somewhat bamboozled as to quite why that conclusion was drawn from my comments.

I can assure you I have never sought to give any impression that I am privy to information imparted within the 'Corridors of power' as part of an agenda of self-promotion.

Furthermore I have consistently asserted that being in the receipt of such information does not place one on any pantheon.
I am certainly not someone who is full of braggadocio.
I have nothing further to add on this matter.

So Roy has made it clear that he hasn't been offered a new contract.

So its safe to assume that Parish is on the hunt of a new manager.

IF Roy does get a contract offer at any point, it will be clear that he wasn't first choice

Roy was careful how he answered the questions at the press conference.
He stated that he 'expected' Sunday to be his last game (i.e that ties in with his contract until the end of the season).
However, when pressed what would happen if the club approached him to sign a new contract he didn't rule it out.
He could have killed the speculation very easily.
I have no inside knowledge but wouldn't be surprised at all to see Roy as manager next season.
I can't see many realistic alternatives, unless perhaps Cooper.

Good post. A difficult situation in that he didn't want to deflect the team's focus? Personally I hope that Parish offers him a one year contract and that he accepts? Pure speculation but it could be a two year contract, one as manager and one as mentoring Paddy?

I suspect that he pre-empted questions and he prepared answers !
Certainly implied that Steve Parish had not engaged in conversation with him about an extended stay !!

Roy's an experienced wily old fox and it would be highly irregular if he were to announce an extension to his current managerial position without Parish having announced it first, or jointly, via an appropriate media outlet.

His answers did give the impression ,he hasn’t actually been asked to take up another contract. When he says if the question is asked, he would have to think hard for the answer maybe the last few weeks has made him realise he might not any longer be able to carry the load for a whole season. In fact something in his body language suggests that , not much spark.
If it’s not for Roy, I hope Palace look outside of the club, it rarely works anywhere promoting from inside, and there is no one on the Palace staff with anywhere near enough experience to not end up sacked after 8 to 10 games.
The problem being finding a talent willing to work within the limitations that Palace have.
