This would have been banned two years ago. Sunak actually acting conservative. The seeds of change or just garnering a tick; for now?

all censorship is wrong.

To de-platform a speaker or to cancel anybody is a Fascist act. like the Nazi's burning the books they didnt like.

the radical Left are the new Fascists.

Freedom of speech is everything. The cornerstone of any democracy. RiP the irish Republic.

Regarding the title of the OP ? it will take a hell of a lot to kill Woke across the West. Maybe Woke will Kill the West first ?

Empires often collapse from pressures within and the hypocrisy of all their own contradictions. The West is awash with Debt, addictions, infertility, decadence and in-fighting. The rise of the BRIC economies looks inevitable.....as the sun sets on the old Powers.

Western Rome 470
Byzantium 1453

Napoleon 1815
Soviet Union 1989

The West......2025 ?

Let's hope so. It's an ugly term used by the right to attempt to ridicule a plethora of progressive actions.

Tainting all progression in such a way distracts from the need to ensure that common sense prevails and that which is sensible continues and that which isn't stops.

Some things are daft. They aren't "woke". They're just stupid. Some things are sensible. They aren't "woke" either. They're just wise.

They are always telling you what they think you should say.

Control freaks.

Hogwash.

Once again, you demonstrate total ignorance.

Imagine if Churchill had led a woke country in 1940. Defeat would have been inevitable.

Ok clever cogs ‘ is the cancelling of opinions the minority don’t want to hear; that are perfectly acceptable to the majority finally beginning to happen, for the good’.
Is that one you can actually answer without spinning it again !

I was at a meeting last night and one of the Trustees is a young person (23) who would be described as woke.
Regardless of that and that person's views I was amazed at how this person shouted everything down that they didn't agree with and for all of the wrong reasons - in my opinion anyway.
This person has beliefs but there was no place for other peoples views or discussion in their eyes - when they were proved to be wrong - which happened on a number of occasions, the attitude was that no one but them knew what they were talking about.
Minority views shouted loud seems to be the order of the day and everyone else is wrong or bigoted.
Also - very ungracious as well as unaccepting in defeat.
It is here to stay unless the majority fight back - and very hard!

You will know what woke is dying and that will be when the universities are no longer employing its lecturers.

When the parliament vote away its laws and when its elites no longer fund its NGOs and activists.

No, woke is very much in rude health and is here to stay for the foreseeable future until those governing factors change.

Yup one swallow does not make a summer.

It's not their views that I object to but their intolerance and bullying.

Somewhat amusingly they view it as being 'intolerant of the intolerant'.

Which means if you object to anything they want for you and your children you are an enemy.

It's always the same....what starts as an appeal for tolerance and fairness slowly morphs into subversion, then laws change and suddenly suppression and repression of criticism....all while claiming victimhood.

You can't fix a mental illness that thinks it's normal.

A quite recent development has been the cancellation of shows at the Fringe because the performers' views don't align with those of the management of the venue as happened to Jerry Sadowitz last year. If what he says is so offensive to them then why book him in the first place? He's been around for 40 years - his act can't have been a surprise.

Another example.
