It's rife in our culture, name me any organisation that is not pre-occupied with covering its own a*se.

So much is thrown up by this case, where to start, at least there is to be an inquiry.

Nice Lucy sociable and friendly, it couldn't be her, so normal she crept under the radar.

Will she admit it, or not and appeal, diminished responsibility (a note says she is evil), motiveless.

She won't appear for sentencing, she will get life but societies revenge doesn't really change a thing.

Nutters exist everywhere. Its the job of the good people to protect us.

Lucy Letby is also another piece of evidence : supporting my theory that the most violent scary feckers are the ones crying and moping around the place feeling sorry for themselves. A cry baby is more scary than Begbie. And very often these monsters are also cowards & deeply disliked. Except for Harold Shipman whose cohort of patients all loved him.

I hope Lucy Letby lives to age 85 and is hated & bullied in jail for all that time.

Follow the link below and agree with me that those who fail to learn the lessons of History are condemned to repeat its mistakes.....

That's very very harsh in my opinion. I'm sure there was nothing in her background that could have foretold what she was going to do. And most serial killers are very good at passing phycological tests etc...from what I have read anyway.

Medical negligence claims are big business. Whether or not justified. This is the biggest reason experienced doctors leave the NHS. Did you do the sensible thing and look at comparable countries before posting?

Serious question: why do you always use such a patronising tone when replying?

Out of respect to the families and because of the very nature of these appalling crimes can we please keep this thread free of personal insults and politics.

Because he's a typical leftie know-all.

forgive me, but the deliberate murder of babies is about as emotive as it gets.

Let me re-phrase. Who the feck didnt deal with Letby quicker ? I just watched the TV news and they parroted the old platitude ''lessons have been learned''.......... and after Beverley Allitt etc....i do not believe them.

will there ever be another angel of death working at a hospital ?

Nobody will touch this and quite rightly so. A person beyond evil, responsible for the most despicable crimes.

The compassion, sympathy and support for the parents and loved ones of all of the victims is what is important for the future, as well as the inevitable enquiry and learnings from the failings that undoubtedly happened.

Out of respect for the families this should be everyone’s focus and nothing else.

Really? Appropriate Adult and Steve Coogan starring as Jimmy Saville in a drama to be released next year to name but two.

They also dramatised the Moors Murders - about as emotive as you can get where the issue still burns like Aberfan (dramatised in the Crown)

I agree with you. It should have been caught quicker and I was reading today that one doctor who said something about her at the time actually had to apologize for it.

considering the assassin's bullet & knife regularly get past a team of armed bodyguards......( Ronald Reagan, Pope John Paul II, Shinzo Abe) .......

i reckon it is nigh on impossible to protect the innocents from monsters. Especially when the monsters are invisible to the World.

the best we can realistically hope for ?

- investigate every suspicious death.

- And encourage colleagues to report on any nutty mental health indicators.

- AI statistical software to quickly see patterns in unexplained deaths. Harold Shipman was only caught when the staff at the Undertakers seemed to notice his enormous tally. Otherwise he may have kept on killing forever.

i guess money is the perennial problem. How much resources to spend on preventing serial-killers ?

what would you do if you were the boss of the NHS ?

An independent inquiry doesn't sound adequate in this case, you could almost write its conclusions now, and lessons from the previous Beverly Allit (Letby is not the first) serial killing nurse don't appear to have got through.

A public inquiry with statutory powers would go some way to restore confidence.

Even then, to absolutely stop any recurrence, I don't think there is any guarantee.

What Lucy did is unforgiveable and absolutely pure evil.

I am struggling to understand how the country is outraged (rightly) about, mainly premature babies, being murdered by a lethal injection, but aren't similarly outraged by late term abortion. Does a baby only matter if it's loved?
