What Lucy did is unforgiveable and absolutely pure evil.

I am struggling to understand how the country is outraged (rightly) about, mainly premature babies, being murdered by a lethal injection, but aren't similarly outraged by late term abortion. Does a baby only matter if it's loved?

Agreed.

Serious question: why do you always use such a patronising tone when replying?

I wouldn’t know but have seen it elsewhere and it usually comes from men who are intimidated by other men and therefore seek avenues through which to try and mitigate this feeling of inadequacy.

Watching the Letby thing now and as a quite literal statement of fact I am struggling to process any thoughts or feelings toward her. It’s the parents and babies my attention is focussed on and I’m almost regretting watching it. Its unfathomably heartbreaking and painful.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

if mummy unilaterally kills the baby....that is legal. If Daddy does so, he goes to jail.

....the woman's right to choose ( not the man's )

but a nurse killing a bunch of live babies ? Its beyond monstrous.

Really? Appropriate Adult and Steve Coogan starring as Jimmy Saville in a drama to be released next year to name but two.

I believe so, yes.

Lucy Letby is the worst child serial killer this country has ever known. A nurse killing new born babies and attempting to kill several more. Her crimes are simply too appalling to even contemplate. Whilst in time there might be a factual documentary about the events, who in their right mind would want to produce a dramatised version of it, which I believe is what you were suggesting when you proposed Jodie Comer to play Ms Letby. Furthermore, who in their right mind would want to watch it?!

Whilst the Fred & Rose West cases were appalling and tragic, as were the cases of the sex offender Jimmy Saville, the outrage and disgust for the Letby case is sadly on a different level.

I sincerely hope that the families of the victims aren’t put through any more trauma and distress by such an appalling and distasteful idea.

What are we (the country) supposed to be outraged by? Are you trying to some how link a serial killer to a woman’s right to choose?

Of course I’m frightened of you, you scary brute

I get really irritated by people that parrot what the right wing media tells them to think

It does look like in this case warning signs should have been heeded but you need to understand the context. People constantly make accusations of negligence in medical situations.

The comment was yet again the NHS has failed this country.

Really? How quickly some people forget. And if the NHS is failing the country how come so many other developed countries have worse records

The masses are encouraged to hate the NHS and the BBC not because relatively speaking they are poor, they are not. It is because power brokers want to take a piece of the action to make big bucks. So trashing their reputation plays to the very top tier of society which has no qualms if it can make money.

So many ‘opinions’, so little research.

It's rife in our culture, name me any organisation that is not pre-occupied with covering its own a*se.

So much is thrown up by this case, where to start, at least there is to be an inquiry.

Nice Lucy sociable and friendly, it couldn't be her, so normal she crept under the radar.

Will she admit it, or not and appeal, diminished responsibility (a note says she is evil), motiveless.

She won't appear for sentencing, she will get life but societies revenge doesn't really change a thing.

Agreed Steeleye.
It would be nice if the useless coverarse Managers lost their pensions and were hailed in front of a jury.
Maybe then, some lessons might be learnt.
Just dreadful for the babies and families.

Maple - your comments disturb me.
The management in this case failed to act in order to cover their own backsides and jobs.
If they had done as little as put the facts on a spreadsheet the evidence would have been there for all to see.
Lives could have been saved and some tragedy averted.
This is public sector management at its absolute worst and if you can't see that then God help you.

If you want to talk about the morals and law in relation to abortion then feel free to start your own thread but this one is about the Lucy Letby Trial.

What will happen to the managers who appear to have been so negligent in this case?
Can they be tried and locked up or does the law not provide for that.?
Although they are not murderers, it does on the surface seem very odd why the managers let this nurse carry on for so long while they continually ignored the consultants grave concerns.
Benefit of hindsight, their lack of action and serious investigation (including lack of suspension) now seem to have been terrible decision making.

Well done PB, in your efforts to keep this thread on topic. I suspect that, like me, you find this whole chapter in our country's history beyond unimaginably sickening.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.
