Computer says "no". Poor woman. She should write to Moneybox. Once broadcast, they practically always get an apology, a resolution, and sometimes a keep-quiet bung.

BTW, one can hate Farage AND the banks.

Some think he's positioning himself to come back to the Tories to lead it post election defeat.

I've no idea if it's true or not but wow....the political blood on the floor over that would be something to see.....literal war within the party.

Much more fun that real war.

Exactly. As soon as she ticked that box I get that it flagged her account but then a human being did get involved and chose to continue the process.

But then banks don't go arbitrarily punishing people....

As an aside, I have an interesting case at the moment with one of the high street banks…in the summer I got an email from the bank thanking me for making an appointment at one of their branches to talk about opening additional facilities. It listed the bank account number. Two points: first, the appointment was 150 miles away from where I live and secondly I don’t hold a bank account with the bank in question. I thought it was a scam and so looked up their fraud line number and asked them to investigate. I heard nothing further from them.
A month later I get confirmation that I have opened 2 ISAs with the account numbers and other personal details sent to my personal email. I wrote to the chief executive of the bank with the details as either I was the subject of identity theft, or the bank was in breach of data privacy laws. Two months later I have received no acknowledgment or reply but the emails keep coming.
Whilst I don’t hold a bank account with the bank, I do hold credit cards with the group, so somewhere along the line cross pollination of my details has resulted in my details being added to someone else’s accounts. My surname is not common so I wonder how many Smith’s and Jones’ have had the same issue.
You would think that I would have received some confirmation that the bank was investigating the situation; but nothing. I think that they are all busy trying to pass the buck around the office as there is a serious breach of confidentiality.

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

I feel for you. The real question is how were they able to open accounts? Banks have to do Know Your Customer check so either they failed to do so in which case this is a serious error and should be reported to the regulators or the scammers had really good fake documents.

When people are scammed and transfer money to a fake bank account opened by fraudsters again I would question how they were able to open that account in the first place.

You should tell the credit ratings agencies as well these people are not going to stop at that. I expect they already have credit cards in your name.

Don’t worry Badger, there is a further part to the story. I carried out searches against my address and also did address searches against people with my name; one popped up in the town where the original appointment was held. In addition that person was recorded at his address for about a decade. I was therefore pretty sure that I hadn’t been scammed but I felt that the bank should double check their records and satisfy my fears. That’s what I’m waiting for.
What I think happened was that the guy was asked for his email address and he couldn’t remember but confirmed that he had other products with the banking group. The bank searched the group database and my email address popped up first. Nobody double checked the other details, hence the problem. Of course, the bank has a data breach because I have been provided with account numbers for this other person’s accounts.
