Then why does the manager have to resort to the press to tell them both to get a move on and sign some players as the squad is not strong enough...this is a repeat of what happens every year we have the whole summer to sort out a squad, yet we leave until the last moment robbing the manager of any time to blend in new players and
we end doing panic deals at the 11th Hour or not at all..I would say we are one the worst clubs at managing our squad succession and players contracts.. what we are good at is extending contracts of players who are well past their sell by dates....or allowing a good assets contract to run down so he could leave for free!

If you’re talking about Wilf SP secured him on a 5 year deal, probably resulting in us staying up for 4 of those 5 years. That’s worth about 100 million a season plus. How much were we being offered for Wilf by spurs back in the day? Not much. How much would the Turks have paid had he had time on his contract? Not much. We reportedly offered him a ridiculously generous contract for his age and the fact he’s beginning to get regular soft tissue injuries. The chairman did fantastic business securing Wilf and getting the best years of him for palace, you cannot use that against him it’s ridiculous.

So if the clause is still in place which now looks factual and the player has had his head turned by Chelsea,surely best to let him go for their reported £39m offer and move on.

Your post contradicts itself, first you say there is a clause(£35m quoted), secondly Chelsea will pay £39m, So, which is it?
