Arteta seems to be very selective about his complaints, no mention of the Havertz very wild “tackle” That would have been a red card 99% of the time.

Refs are falling for this all the time ,the mystery of course is why is VAR not seeing it ?

Wolves just don't seem to be getting the decisions. Have no idea why.

We can attribute our points tally in some part to the avoidance of VAR!

It's bound to catch up with us, probably v. Liverpool.

Is Royball an antidote to VAR?

Certainly hope so.

Had to be a red for Havertz, didn't it?

At Newcastle clearly two hands pushing the back of the Arsenal player.

In the final analysis the ball did NOT go over the line and it was abject defending by Arsenal in dealing with the cross.

Well that’s the reasoning , but there was no accurate measurement as to whether that ball was out or not. Only a clear picture to indicate that possibly 1%of it might touch the line, and that too is a guess. It was a guess either way, surely that being the case benefit of reasonable doubt should be in the defenders favour and the ball thought to be out. The reasonable doubt in this shouldn’t favour the ref, it should not be a save face exercise for refs. This is becoming the biggest problem with VAR, though not the only one.

'Ball over the line'.

You can easily see that it is or not, if your measure is that part of the ball that is in contact with the playing surface.

To measure, inaccurately, the whole circumference of the ball which is not in contact with the pitch, is another case of the law's foolhardiness.

Precisely, steeleye. It's the law that is at fault here; it's nothing to do with VAR.

What about when it’s the goal line?

Isnt there a sensor in the ball / fob arrangement to notify the ref (fob vibrates) if the ball crosses the goal line between the
posts ?

There is for if it crosses the goal line but not for throw-ins. The World Cup ball seems to have the technology but the League probably don't; which is fair enough - how many contentious throw-ins are there?
This rule would be a bit simpler if the ball had to be inside the line instead of partly overhanging from outside it like with corners.

Arsenal were robbed no doubt. Don’t blame Arteta and his club for fuming!
Maybe VAR should be ditched?
