maybe. Or maybe it was to make a public example of them. To scare the next generation of trouble-makers.

I considered replying to this guy again but it becomes a pointless passive aggressive, 'yes it is, no it isn't' ego fest that never ends and frankly bores me: It's a merry-go-round.

People can look at the different perspectives and see what they consider the most balanced position.

So if anyone is curious and wants to ask me a question based on any of this I'll reply but other than that I'm good.

Sorry Stirling, looks like I've violated your safe space. Still plenty of good news from the front regarding avdiivka. Something to push out those awkward questions on Navalny away from the headlines.

There's video of him the day before talking to lawyers, looked fine.

I exclude nothing, however Occam's razor is usually correct. His safety was the responsibility of Russia.

LOL. Its weird. There Russia is, about to achieve a victory, and they decide to kill this man so that nobody would read about it.

Genuinely surprised people are shocked they're offing political prisoners when Russia has no problems at all killing enemies of the state abroad.

Russia does what it wants.

To be honest I don't think the timing matters as much to Putin. Navalny dying is an own goal internationally but at this point Russia has bungled it's invasion so badly that it's not really going to matter in the grand scheme of things in terms of optics.

Russian TV will simply ignore, spin and downplay the story while saying how victory in Adviivka means it's only a matter of time.

If you (plural) are intentionally or unintentionally doing Russia's bidding by propagating russian talking points and pushing against support to Ukraine before Navalny died, it's likely you (again plural) will still keep doing it. I.e. everyone seems to have already picked a side internationally.

It's also possible the guy genuinely did just die, even if that is unlikely. In which case the whole question of timing is irrelevant.

Rule 1 of this Geo-politics malarkey. There are no coincidences. Somebody decided this guy's time was up. Question is was it Moscow or somewhere much further West.

I see zero upside for this to be Putin. But as a way of diverting attention from what seems to be a developing negative situation for Ukraine on the battlefield, then job done.

Exactly, when Putin murdered Alexander Litvinenko the FSB could have used any number of untraceable poisons or simply staged an accident. Instead they used radioactive Polonium which was easily traceable back to the BA flight from Moscow.

Putin was sending a message to his enemies I can kill you anywhere anytime and I don't give a damn if people know this.

The case for it (assuming it was foul play) being 'the west' makes zero sense for the following reasons.

1. Why risk Navalny, you could pick another russian dissident like Kasparov who'd be easier to dispatch?
2. The supposed reward (headlines in the west) aren't going to increase support for Ukraine, as mentioned it's likely most people have already chosen their side.
3. If the west really wanted to help Ukraine in a more tangible way they'd pull their finger out and actually commit more ammo and equipment rather than the trickle which Ukraine has been recieving. Before anyone comes back about the supposed 'billions sent to Ukraine'. We've provided less than 5% of our defence budget each year and most of this in previously purchased assets. It's a trickle. Putin doesn't care what the headlines or the optics look like in the UK.
