Not that disastrous in a seat they last won in 1951.

Oh it is.

If ever there was an opportunity, with the Labour Party out of the picture, for the claims that the working class would rise up and turn right, this was it. It failed to happen.

They might not have won, because the local guy offered a trustworthy alternative and Galloway appealed to those disgusted with both parties's stance on Gaza. Those by the way were not just the "Muslim" vote. They should though have done a lot better.

I note that all this commentary about Politicians being threatened is when we suddenly hear about it.

They couldn't give a feck about the common man and woman in the street watching their local demographics change without being asked.

No, as soon as the imported that they allowed in are mean to them....that's when you hear about it.

One could hope in desperation that they might take the bigger picture a little more seriously given current events.

They normally get forced into action when it affects them. I'd have thought one of their number getting murdered would have started the alarm bells.
Increasing their own security won't make it go away.

The demographic in Rochdale plus the general indifference caused this sort of result.

I don't think it tells us anything about the general election.

What is that? One of the most astute, and talented orators, of the modern political era?

I would disagree with Mr Galloway on many many things but watching him speak is a master class in the fading art of Rhetoric.

His victory yesterday was a symptom a rot at the very heart of our nation that both the Labour and Conservatives are hand in hand in creating. Both now an utter corruption and in need of wiping out.

Us on the Right need our Galloway. I did have some hopes it might be Farage but that is now fading by the hour. But he will emerge.

Meanwhile Sunak still banging on about the far right.

What his speech really tried to say was that we should all just keep faith with the mainstream and trust them with our future.
They have destroyed it.

He still thinks that a multi faith multi ethnic society is the way forward. He would wouldn't he.

God help us.

Snake oil salesmen that has been revealed several times before. He fits right into politics - that would be right. As for everything else - he's a paid stooge, like most politicians. More like a Court jester for the Tzars.

Very true.

I take no pleasure in them reaping what they sowed.

But it's their harvest.

Johnson stood in front of TV cameras and called those who came to defend our statues the left's atheist word for Satan: 'racists'.

Well, it's only going to get worse and let the soy boys defend them and the mess they created.

Does anyone know whether the amount of postal votes cast for a candidate is ever published (as opposed to just the total number of votes cast for them)?
Something smells a bit fishy...there were 24745 postal votes sent out, of which 15631 were returned. 14526 of those were accepted; the others being rejected due to signatures or DOB not matching up with held information.
Apparently George's team almost instantly were saying that they had won after the polls closed. Is that because he knew how many of 'his' postal votes were in the system?

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

If those figures are true that is a lot of rejected votes.

The postal vote exceeded the winning total

If you think the Russian elections are legitimate then you might believe this election result. I'd say there was as much a surprise outcome in this election too.
The only people fooled are the main parties and the government. No one else is.
As many people are saying - let's hope this is a wake up call but, seriously, I'm not sure you can always be revived from a coma.

Because the voters of Rochdale are uniquely convinced the Conservative party has done such a brilliant job over the past few years obviously.
