To try and emulate how these teams play you heve to have pace in the team .
It doesn't matter who our manager is, until we have pace in our team we will not be able to make rapid transitions (think Bolassie carrying the ball 60 yards at his peak).

I watched some of the Luton game, there attacking players are quick and physical and their wingers muscle their way past the defenders.

It's great when you see a bit of Zaha magic bamboozle the opposition but I will settle for just getting past the fullback.

I don't think we are strong enough so maybe we can take a tip from Luton.

Our lack of physicality overall seems to be costing us this season. Lerma and Ayew perhaps the main exceptions. However, Ayew more hustle and bustle than end product and Lerma is exposed without Doucoure.

Glasner's tactics must have been a culture shock for a Hodgson-drilled side who had been encouraged to have at least 8 men behind the ball, sticking rigidly to their shape and not much else the entire time.

Glasner has introduced a new formation for starters but also seems more intent on moving the ball quickly up the pitch with genuine intent to attack the opposition goal as opposed to relying upon the individual nous of a few players in lieu of any instruction.

Fitness levels and tactical harmony may take time however I am also hoping that a transition from stalwart dead wood to a team that looks both more purposefully built and tactically instructed is underway. Johnstone, Guehi, Andersen, Munoz, Doucoure, Lerma, Eze, Franca and Olise have built a foundation alongside the likes of Ayew and JPM showing their worth. A few more plus a bit of time for Glasner and we may well be in business.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

The many key injuries and RHs decline were serious problems, but this has been the central issue this season.

The key to his formation is the wingbacks/wingers, their attacking ability is as important as their defensive abilities, maybe more, and it is the hardest position physically, you need 2 of each because of that, the central positions IMO are ok, but WBs not.

CD, Andersen, Guehi, Richards, Ward, Holding for 3 positions,

DM, Doucoure, Wharton, Lerma and the youngsters for 2 positions

CAM, Olise, Eze, Ayew, Franca for 2 positions

CF, only Mateta for me

Obviously any player sold need replacing, a CF and 2 WBs needed IMO.

That sounds good/looks like a correct summary for me.

You've missed Munoz off this list is this because you weren't listing our WB's? Imo, for RWB we have Munoz & i would Imray as his back-up, as for LWB we only have Mitchell & currently possibly Schlupp as cover. I do agree with you CF & LWB are needed. Pre-season should prove interesting.

Rubbish as Normal, Mateta is the best CF we have had since Murray, he gives 100%, has a decent first touch, is not a player Center half's like playing against, his Value has doubled since we got him, he isn't Haaland, but has become a 20m+ player.

There will always be rocks in the road ahead of us. They will be stumbling blocks or stepping stones; it all depends on how you use them.
