One of APs major concerns last season was the squad lacked depth. Now we have 2 less squad players and are dangerously short in several areas. In fact we don't even have 25 players for the squad. When the injuries come we will be forced to play guys out of position. Anybody who thinks this has been a great window needs to stop smoking crack and take their eyes off the forward line to look at the rest of the squad.

Really just shows how bad the squad was. Was never going to fix those problems in one window. If we had got Rincon over the line I don't think anyone would be moaning.

We tried and didn't but come on. Stop being so f***ing negative people.

This board is turning in to a complete joke.

We've signed a bunch of class players.

Yes we didn't replace a player who didn't play much. And yes we could do its strength in that position.

Does that mean we've failed this window?

Benteke, Remy, Mandanda, Tomkins, Townsend

All walking in to the first team. With only one first team player leaving.

Yes the squad is thin. But that just shows how poor it was to start with.

Complete joke to say those transfers weren't good business or becuase we've missed out on our last target it's been a piss poor transfer window.

90% of what everyone wanted has been achieved and the bodies brought in are a high high standard.

Stop the f***ing moaning becuase we missed out on one target.

I'm worried we're way too thin. Don't replace Bolasie and send Kaikai on loan? Don't replace Jedi and send Boateng on loan? Are we happy with a total of 6 first-team defenders? I'm worried about squad depth and despite the great business that we've done, it could all come apart with a few injuries.

I notice Paul Merson gave our window a B+ which is I think a bit mean. We have noticeably strengthened across the squad. Mandanda and Tomkins are excellent defensive additions, and the most noticeable of attacking weakness - badly defective striking options, has been addressed by the addition of Benteke and Remy. We might now actually have a PL level strikeforce. Having said that, I think we are definitely still light and vulnerable in certain positions, and as you say no replacement for Jedi or Bolasie. If we have good luck, and no injuries in key positions, we should be OK. However, the current injuries to Cabaye and McArthur are worrying and if they are out for months we are going to struggle, since Ledley has also been injured. A great pity that Rincon and/or Wilshire didnt happen

Go look at Sunderlands transfer business and then think about how poor as have been...

Some people are just never happy.

Sad really, so many people all ready to pounce becuase they can find fault rather than celebrate the positives.

Negativity !!

Good signing however with no replacements for Bolasie and Jedi the squad is seriously lacking. It looks like Cabye is already out for a substantial period, which means Ledley comes in but there is no further cover in central midfield. An injury to a winger too and we are in a similar position to last season. We are two players short of a decent squad.

Our biggest problem last year was not scoring goals, we have brought in Benteke and Remy. Is a no brainer.

The other players we have brought in are certainly upgrades.

Kids stop smoking crack!!!

As someone else has said, the 2 areas which screwed us last season were def mid and winger. We're in the same position there as we were last season and with no real number 10 we could just as predictable, perhaps amplified with Pardew.

I agree the signings have been really good but people who don't agree on these shortcomings are denying something so blindingly obvious before we're pointing it out to you.

Happy with the players we have brought in, and I guess, we need significant upgrades in a lot of areas, and if we had signed more players, it may have been harder to assimilate them all quickly.

If we play 442 then Bentecke and Remy changes the team a lot, but 4 5 1 and OK, Remy comes on as as sub, but it doesn't change the team that much.

We need an attacking mid who can create, has vision, maybe a good shot and a bit of skill. Our central midfield seems very workman like to be honest - Cabaye, Mac, Ledly.

Punch - we need him to step up, he is the only midfielder capable of providing that sort of dynamic and can actually shoot.

Mandanda looks to be a massive upgrade. He really inspires confidence. Bentecke seems strong. Townsend has seemed confident so far but not necessarily briliant, although he could be. Good transfer window but still feels like we are missing a player.

Interesting comments from Parish . He has obviously learned from last year's window, and kept a bit in reserve incase things dont go as well as we need in the first 3 months of the season

Without doubt it's been a good window, I don't see how anyone could really view it as not. We now have the best starting 11, arguably, ever. If you want to be critical we are a touch light in midfield but SP sounds like he tried but didn't get it done.

Players aren't my worry the manager is?

Whilst I agree that we need a CAM our biggest issue last season was a lack of goals. Looking at the stats we were mid-table for 'chances created' but bottom 3 for assists/goals. In fact, if we'd scored one more goal in every match since January our points tally (& league position) would've been markedly different.

I'm hoping that a bit more quality from the wings & in the box will redress that.

The fact that several of our starting 11 from last season are now squad players tells me we're heading in the right direction.

Trouble with a bit more quality from the wings and centrally which you didn't mention to the new additions in the box is that apart from Townsend in for Bolasie it's exactly the same. 2 quality strikers but they can't supply themselves unless we play Benteke and Remy against bottom sides at home.

A midfielder or two would have been nice and could be our problem ahead. But we got soe good signings and we will adjust the squad in next window, that`s how things are.And now get this f***ing internationale over with so we can start picking up a lot of points starting next saturday.
