What are the HF doing about....

Elephants being slaughtered for the Ivory trade?

Rhino's being slaughtered for their horns to be turned into Chinese Medicine?

Moon Bears kept in tiny iron crates and farmed for their stomach bile to be turned into Chinese Medicine?

Bullfighting?

Cruelty to Donkeys?

Halal Meat?

I want to know!

Which of those have anything to do with youth culture in London?

The only thing there would be the Halal meat, but I think criticising World religions is a bit above the HF's 'paygrade'.

If you're so worried about those things, why not do something about them instead of moaning about other people (albeit tongue-in-cheek, I assume) not doing anything?

I want to know!

Why shouldn't arenas like this be used to make a point about things going on in our society? They always have been since Roman times and before. I'm surprised you lot aren't still moaning about Saša Curcic's one man demonstration.

The only problem I see is if the HF back movements that those behind don't agree with, doing what Rupert Murdoch does to us when he uses our images to advertise his products. But I neither see why anyone would really be against Fabric staying open, nor why it has all you pant wetters in a tizzy.

Why limit your horizons to Yoof Culture?

Alright if you don't care about animals what about Gay Rights or FGM?

Pant Wetters?.... insulting people making a valid point just makes you sound pathetic and unable to debate your point without resorting to abuse.

It occurs to me that many of us on here like the HF in their original form, which was to create a buzzing atmosphere and get behind the team/club but like the EU it has evolved into an entity far beyond it's original mandate.

As I keep saying we go to football for football not political demonstrations and all ages have a stake in our club... remember that... but you will when you get old yourself.

I have no problem with the HF trying to help any cause but don't do it at our club on a matchday and expect us to fund it.

Youth culture in London is what they were making a point about, not the Ivory Trade.

You can make any point you like about Gay Rights or whatever you like, I'm not going to stop you, or get my pants in a twist about it of you do.

The term Pant Wetters perfectly describes what I see as an increasing issue on this and other message board where people get Oh So Offended by things like this. But as I said in a previous post, that's more down to modern society than anything else, and the media's role in wanting people to get Oh So Upset. I'm not insulting you, and if you think I am, it must ring true to some extent.

Their original mandate was to create an atmosphere, but like with anything, as time goes on, issues change...much like the Stewards telling us all to sit down years ago which we all rallied against. At times they over-step the mark (crowd surfing etc), but with any group of people, things wont always go to plan, and I believe they agreed to not to do things like crowd surfing that could cause injury.

Football has always been somewhat political, not just in England. Look at Barca for instance, and their ongoing struggle for an independent Catalonia, only being able to speak Catalan inside the stadium for many years. Politics and social issues go hand-in-hand with large public gatherings, like it or not.

And finally, how did you fund the display on Saturday? Like you (i imagine) I have donated to them for their displays in the past, but I don't see money really being an issue when you're dealing with a cotton sheet and some black paint.

We're never going to agree and despite your denial above you were trying to make me look foolish by describing me as a "pant wetter"... even turning it back on me by glibly suggesting that it's my fault for interpreting your insult as an insult.

Priceless.

Lets agree to disagree without the need for any more childish name calling.

Let's agree to disagree then

I must point out though, that if the HF were to start putting up things I really didn't agree with, I would be one of the first telling them to take it down, just as I would expect anyone else to tell me if I started waving my "Independence for Reedham" banner.

At the end of the day, what does it matter if they put up a sign saying "Save Fabric".. How did it impact anybody on this board? It's a cause that means something to them..

How has such a simple banner (which means nothing to so many people on this board) caused so much offence?

Crazy world

The point that Hoof has been trying to make is that the so called HF are seen as representatives of the Crystal Palace fanbase and the thousands of outsiders that see these political banners will associate them with Crystal Palace as a whole and not just a few self important supporters.

Personally I think that all banners that relate to anything other than supporting the football club should be banned

As is with most cases surrounding the HF, I wouldn't let what a couple of the minorities do dictate the general precedent they try to set. There's always a couple of s*** bags giving some sort of grief. I think the seniors/founding core of the HF would disagree with the otherwise negative representation they're given sometimes, as they are arguably the life and blood of Selhurst, and have been for a good few years now.

Life maybe, blood-what about me and the 23,000 others? Seems like without them we are nothing. Always sung, no matter how many (28 on a foggy trip to Forest in the 80's) were there. Get a bit too much praise these days.

I refuse to believe there are that many people out there that can't spell. Too f**king lazy, that's what I think.

They were kids who probably go to the game and then go clubbing later on so it is part of their ritual. Its important to them and they held a banner up,they didn't grab a steward and behead them or handcuff themselves to the goalposts during the game. When you talk about self-importance do you not see that the arguments being thrown about here by some wannabe Victorian Headmasters are the most self-important comments to come out of this bollox.A lot of them kids probably live for Palace at Selhurst and then out on the razz with their besties and its what memories are made of and how lifelong friendships are formed. If you, Hoof or any of the other posters who are whining about a bedsheet with some writing on it missed out on those memories and frienships then I pity you and understand your complete ignorance for what those kids did and why.IF however you watched games when you were in your late teens/early twenties and went out on the pi$$ after at Studio,Cinderellas,Sinatras etc etc and remember those nights to this day then you need to take your head for a crap and lighten the f@ck up.
