You are wrong plain and simple. Once the birth rate falls to a critical level, the population will fall in a number of years even if the population numbers are still increasing.

Are we talking numbers or social impact?

Numbers are numbers. People who are experts in population projection would have to determine how many people should be allowed to come here. To leave it to chance is nuts.

This is just the latest confirmation of a downward trend, with the yearly birthrate declining by 91,000 since 2008. The decline was far sharper in births to couples both of whom are Italian citizens. Children born to Italian couples sank to 385,014 in 2015 (a drop of over 95,000 over the last seven years). Istat attributed the trend to two factors: ever fewer Italian women at childbearing age and an increasing unwillingness to have children among those who could. Italy’s birthrate has fallen further and further below the replacement rate of roughly 2.1 children per woman. Germany is roughly the same and the Spanish birth rate even lower - 1.27 in 2014.

No. What we need is to increae the birth rate of existing people to redcuce the need for further immigration.

Too many people are too self centered and don't want to have children. That is a symptom of our selfish society. Our lack of foresight has created the need for quick fixes like mass immigration that have had and will have hugely negative consequences.

And find the information yourself.... This should give you a taster.
