Yep. Except...

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

Exactly.

Not quite, but essentially yes, it kind of is. Neither the Islamist attacks or this one, are more terror attacks rather than terrorist attacks, because they lack any real influence on politics, organisation or long term objectives (politically or religiously).

People can be sane and be a terrorist....Maajid Nawaz was one.
People can be mentally disturbed and be a terrorist.

Ultimately it comes down to perspective.

What was that saying....'good people do good things bad people do bad things...but for good people to do evil - that takes religion'.

Pretty much true - Richard Dawkins I think. Although I would add that maybe belief is a better word than religion, but its close enough.

I think that when we look at modern terrorism, especially in the West, where there is no real political objective or ambition, we're probably seeing something kind of approaching mental illness (left wing or right wing), simply because there is no realistic expectation that the acts would result in any long term influence over politics - and that's maybe a shift from the start of the decade, when Al-Qaeda attacks were aimed at being mass events that did shift geo-political balance such as 9/11 or the Madrid bombings.

We should send all white mainstream Christian British back to where their great great great grandfathers came from unless they reform, reform and reform again. They are part of the problem of people like this van driver terrorist last night and Anders Breivik. I mean, have you read parts of the bible? Horrific. How they can play bowls with that going on in their heads just shows how dangerous they could be.

99.999% of white Christians have not driven vans into crowds of people. How do you know he targeted Muslims? After all it would be difficult not to hit a Muslim in that area of London. Also of course white, 48-year-old, Christians contribute greatly to our diverse and vibrant society - the NHS would probably collapse without them. You have more chance of dying from a golf-ball hitting you on the head on a golf-course than you have of being run down by a 48-year-old white Christian, etc etc ...

Steven Weinberg, but yes essentially religion could be traded for strong conviction or belief....Different versions of the same candy.

It's why secularism and skepticism and the marketplace of ideas, where debate and challenge happen, is so important.

What a fecking world we are living in.
So much hatred spawn from what is supposed to be a peaceful religion.
Eye for an eye equals the same result innocent people being killed.

'imagine all the people....'

Na Bubble, it's horrible but it's the same as it ever was.

Some people just get to look away for a while.

If they are 'preachers of hate' then what are you?

You have poured out so much hate on here you make the Daily Mail look like training school.
