As much as some people think they are modern men it is only in public where they are afraid of being judged.

And yes, I live in Sweden where the football show most of the time is hosted by a woman with three pundits, only one of which is a man!

What a load of crap. Oatley was s***e as a commentator, she got names wrong, could stumble over her words and was very poor at her job. Plenty of male commentators have been lampooned for similar. Compare her to the likes of Erin Andrews who was legitimately held down for too long but is now a play by play commentator and you can instantly see the difference.

She had a solid game. Would love to see her reffing if its up to the same standard, as we have precious few top refs.

And yes the Andy Gray / Richard Keys dismissal was priceless. What a couple of bigoted dinosaurs they are.

So would I!

I don't know what the criteria is for the transition from Assistant to Referee - she has refereed at the highest level for several women's' events and is FIFA accredited, so hard to understand why she hasn't yet been given a prem game.

That's not old fashioned, it's personal preference and totally fine.

Recently we have been getting some female commentators for international cricket and most (not all) of them are excellent. So for me....just like for football, it's about the commentator themselves.

But if you prefer men commentating, there's nothing wrong with that and I don't think you need to apologise for it.

I prefer female nurses to male nurses and that's my preference, but it's nothing to do with ability and during a recent over night stay I had no issues with either....but it's a private personal preference and if others don't like it I don't care.

Because the ref still has to keep control of the game, and i dont think men on a professional field of soccer would respect her enough that she could keep control.

Do you think they respect male referees?

One has witnessed on numerous occasions SKY highlight how extremely 'tight' offside situations are called right by the assistants. These officials deserve enormous praise for their correct decisions in fast moving situations. We'll done all!

Andy Gray was assistant manager to Ron Atkinson at A.Villa.

I think he also did some coaching at Sheffield Wed.
