I'd say the economy of the island, which apparently isn't great. Outdated infrastructure abounds.

Also, you are picking on one aspect of the island when in reality it isn't much of a socialist run place anyway.

Of course those who own stuff are happy.....That's the case in all political systems.

Like I say, we have far more socialism here than they do. But I'll stop waffling with this point here because it sounds like I'm attacking you for the hell of it and I'm not.

Definitely true, the equipment provided to Russia across the Alaskan straights was vital to the Red Army counter-attack at Moscow, and then later Stalingrad.

That said, the German invasion of Russia pretty much sealed the fate of the German Military, as it tied up their resources and manpower in a brutal meatgrinder of a conflict. Had the Germans not invaded Russia, the UK and US would probably have failed at Normandy (or not been able to launch the Normandy invasions in France).

More worrying though, would have been what would have happened if the US hadn't entered the war. Like outcome would have been the iron curtain would have extended at least as far as Spain on the European mainland (and likely the Soviets would have just rolled through France into Spain and Portugal, and likely the Scandinavian countries). That would have been a terrible situation for the UK to be in (as well as the rest of Europe).

No Lenin, no Hitler.....no WW2.

He just wouldn't have risen as high without the fear of the USSR within Germany.

And who ramped up that fear to near-hysterical heights to keep the Jews company? A certain little corporal.

and no WW1 no Lenin.

The Russian disasters of WWI is entirely responsible for the rise of revolutionary parties in Russia.

Sure, but Hitler didn't exist within a vacuum. He was just the strong man who could take advantage of opinion that already existed. Both the 'stab in the back' Jewish stuff and fear of Bolsheviks was significant.

But lets not forget that the Nazis only ever represented around one third of politics there.

Similar to Lenin, Hitler was lucky, ruthless and smart....and a monster.

Is that true? The wannabe revolutionaries were planning/conspiring way before WW1 in various locations around Europe in exile. Hard to believe but if you strolled into a Whitechapel building around 1904-ish you could have shaken hands with Josef, Vladimir and Leon before going about your eviscerating business with the local ladies of the night.

I'd scream, 'Freedom' in my poor Scottish accent all the way down.

The stories of people having to wheelbarrow money around in order to pay for just a loaf of bread may not have been exaggerated things were that desperate. Economic woes, the blame game, a genius orator - yep, right place, right time...for Hitler. Wrong place, wrong time...for the rest of the world.

One of those instances when the 'evil' is not just hyperbole. What was it? 50million deaths in WW2. A true madman.

Yep.....it's true.

The rise of competing European militarism going into the 20th century gave rise to the alliances...which gave rise to WW1.

A horrible sh1tshow.

Yep, the Nazis had placards for elections saying things like, 'work and bread'.....the British and French forced people to work in the factories as near slaves.

Humiliation breeds extremism......as we later see in the middle east.

The Marshall plan was...in part.... a recognition of this by the US after WW2....they helped rebuild Germany rather than what happened after WW1....They learnt from our mistakes.
