From the moment he went I thought we sold him on the cheap. My facts need checking but I think it was £2.5m, which I thought at the time was a giveaway....and then he became an Arsenal hero and record goalscorer. I think we paid £1.8m/£1.9m of the proceeds for Marco Gabbiadini who, in fairness, was no Ian Wright!!

I don't know what 2.5 million translates to now but yeah.....there's no doubt that not having Wright basically took the wind right out of our sails.

Gabbiadini wasn't as terrible as he's remembered but he was certainly no Ian Wright......not worth the fee we paid for sure.

We learnt the lesson of selling top players back then and Southampton are certainly learning it now.

Though to be fair, once a player decides that they want out.....there isn't a lot a club can do about it. The replacements are massively important.

That's why progressing the club into a larger one is so so important.

To me.....

A.Zaha is very happy playing at Crystal Palace where he is idolised.
B. He earns very good money at the club and guaranteed first team football.
C. He is settled in the area, ringing up a young family and his incredible potential is obvious for all to see.
D. Personally I think he needs one more year to continue to work on his weaknesses- and of course, perhaps help the club reach Europe next year.
E. Some players are basically irreplaceable- and I think Zaha certainly falls very near to that category.
F. Would be gutted to see him go........but money does talk!
G. If his mind is set on leaving, then in many ways, we must let him go....but for nothing less than £50m

If he goes - he won't go North - he's been there done that and didn't work out.

In any case he'd only be a bench warmer for City or Liverpool - so why do it?

The only one I can see is if Hazard goes to Real - is Chelsea - keeps Wilf in London.

If that's the case - yeah that's fine we'll take RLC and Moses in a swap deal.

Do that and IMO - we would have done the better deal..!!

In all honesty I believe Wilf is going nowhere - he's a year into a 5 year deal, loved by the fans and the club.

Think Roy and Steve are thinking about building the team around him rather than selling..!!

Undoubtedly Parish has done well, he will leave the club in a better place than he found it and therefore to me that is progress/success. However, that does not mean he is exempt from criticism. Derisory offers in the past 2 windows almost cost us our PL status this year, and the planning for a new stadium is well well overdue, although the quick fixes in the main stand and Arthur were good. My point is, Parish is not the legend that perhaps you seem to think he is; he's an astute businessman and Palace fan at heart; lets not forget he let the club plummet to its lowest to get us as cheap as possible, read the facts! That doesn't mask that he's done a brilliant job, or that he's made mistakes. He wont let wilf go for something stupid, so bring on the future!
