er, yeah, you mean the same Steve Parish who worked for decades to build up a business, risking everything. Then took the fruits of all those years and years of hard labour, and invested them in Crystal Palace?

I haven't seen many Easter Island statues do that!

Parish worked his nuts off to build a successful business.

Then, the crazy fool, he shared his money with us, miserable schlubs like you and I, by investing in the club we love.

In that sense, Parish is the original Holmesdale Fanatic. He's probably got a massive drum in his garage and secretly dresses in black.

We benefit from his money.

I would never criticise Parish as I couldn't do what he has achieved.

Blimey, You make him sound like a gifting saint!
Steve Parish no doubt worked exceptionally hard to build his business up (just like every business owner on the planet that has become successful) its not exclusive. He invested a quarter of the money necessary to rescue Palace from liquidation (three other partners at the time putting up the other three quarters) and in view of the clubs dire financial predicament at the time gained control of the club for chump change. Would he have paid the going rate for a Championship club had it NOT been in administration, even if he'd only have to find a quarter of the money? Who knows but doubtful based on his 'reluctant investor' self description at the time.
As far as 'sharing his money with us'? This makes no sense. If you mean by that buying players that got us promoted and then buying even better players to keep us up I'm sorry to disappoint you. He did that for the good of his business and to protect his very fast growing investment. No matter what he might say he did not spend a penny of Palace's generated income (not his own money by the way) for us fans. He did it to strengthen the clubs position and try to push us forward as a team. Thats fine by me (and nearly every other fan) because it falls in line with what we want-success on the pitch.
Parish has done great things for Palace but lets not pretend he is some kind of super hero who consistantly carries out selfless acts. He strengthens Palace for himself so that one day the calf will grow into a fattened Bull and he can take it to maket and collect his big payday. I have no problem with that whatsoever because if his plan works it will mean Palace will be ten times the size club we were when CPFC2010 first arrived

‘’I want to speak on behalf of the players, because what you've done for us as supporters this year has been absolutely incredible."

"We'll need your support next year as well, we depend upon you."

Hodgson then last week tried to deny the atmosphere going would be a problem, just like me really.

Now Hennessey has said it is an issue and other players will surely be quoted too.

Palace are poor on the pitch for a number of obvious reasons.
Don't let the playing staff use the HF as an excuse for not performing. Players are on mega-bucks ££, that should be reason enough to do their job.

The Emirates is a good example of performance with no crowd participation

Any businessman with half a brain cell would not buy a football club as an investment, especially not a struggling championship club in administration. We got lucky the stars aligned and we got promoted at the right time but parish used his money to save our club not as a business investment.

Very good point, my friend, Est1905

Yes, I was a bit simplistic. That's me all over I'm afraid.

I do think Parish is a hero though.

I quite like Simon Jordan too. I chatted with him once about his book. Well, I say chatted, it was 99 per cent him talking and me listening. I did get to say 'um' and 'ha ha' and "i agree'

But fair play to Jordan too. He built a business and put money into Palace.

Mind you, I met a bloke in the Two Brewers once and as a joke I said he looked a bit like Simon Jordan. He threatened to punch me!

Good grief. I never knew Jordan was so unpopular.

Yep usually at the start of the season for us. Then at the end in crucial games everyone is together, we get the results, we survive. We’ll see how it goes with silence and booing. It’s worth the experiment. We’ll get promoted back no problem. On we go.

Rubbish,
buying a Championship for a song, scrub that, a quarter of a song! This was no risk at all. He was only shouldering a quarter of the finacial burden, if it went pear shaped it was a financial hit he could afford to take, if it went to plan which it did the financial rewards were/are massive. Of course it was an investment. EVERYTHING a businessman puts money into is an investment whether good or bad. This one was pretty good wouldn't you say?

If it went wrong their money was secured against the ground sale, along with Lloyd’s big cut as it would be for housing. There was minimal to no risk actually.

I think this might be the time to mention the Nazi's and Hitler's Germany. There are valid comparisons to make,.....or not

Not forgetting the Holocaust, which it is illegal to deny happened.

I'm impressed there are so many experts here on buying football clubs and making them into profitable enterprises.

There's me thinking it's probably a hard job, with loads of volatile variables (like insecure footballers, greedy agents and fans with insanely inflated expectations).

Once again I'm wrong. It's a doddle. Anyone could do it.

In fact, I'd have bought Palace myself only, er, I've got flat feet and the doctor said I've got a cute angina.

It's me nerves, y'see. That's why I drink and smoke so much
