I heard a theory yesterday that whilst Trump just shot his mouth off as he always does when criticised he, or more likely his strategists, have seen that this might work for them, which is why he is now "doubling down" and ramping up the rhetoric.

What was suggested was that he will now try to tarnish the whole of the Democratic party with this brush by claiming that they are now controlled by the type of politics espoused by these ladies. Thus the Democrats are now closet communists and enemies of the people. The suggestion is that, as in 2016, his election strategy will be to make his opponent look to have more faults than he does. He will concentrate on making negative slurs and not care about what people think of him, so long as his opponent looks worse. It's started already with "Sleepy Joe Biden" etc etc. He did it with Hillary and all the accusations. He did it with Obama and the stupid "birthing" thing. The sad thing is that so many cannot see through it and repeat these things. Even on here! "Crooked Hillary" etc etc. It's a deliberate tactic taught to him by Roy Cohn, who took it himself from the Goebbels playbook. The idea that a US President adopts tactics devised by the Nazis appalls me, but that seems to be the truth.

The Dems really do need to get their act together and get rid of him for the good of not just the USA but the world.

For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally.

No, people have to be fair about it. Judge someone on what they say, not on what you read into what they say.

Trump buys into the 'American' concept....he's part of the republican civic nationalism that most of the 'boomer' generation still hold to.

They may not hold allegiances to Trump’s America, but I see no proof they don’t have allegiance to the society.

It’s the same way a lot of Brexiteers imply their style of nationalism is the only way to be proud of Britain - I’m immensely patriotic, but I don’t align with the same style of nationalism nor ultimately the same politics.

These women clearly have different views on what is right for society, and you can contest those fairly and at length, but I see nothing to suggest it’s a lack of allegiance which is the difference here.. I think that’s quite watery.

Don't yea just love socially incohesive societies.....let's leave our personal stances on nationalism aside for a moment to focus on the mindsets here.

I kind of think you summed it up in your first sentence. These are alligiances to two different forms of societies.

Trump is saying, 'if you don't like this society....as in the 'status quo'...the 'Anglo Saxon' model as he sees it....then leave'.

Where as the Squad want to change the society and take over....and indeed demographic change means that soon it will be theirs rather than his.

But in the short term, the 'Squad' are pretty unpopular to the current majority....so he wins by highlighting the differences in their allegiance to a different type of society.

Essentially it's the backdrop to what I've been saying for months and it's having birthing pains with the 'boomers' like Trump......but they can't quite bring themselves to change from civic nationalism
