Lots of the political pundits saying tonight that if Johnson gets his win the new Tory northern MPs will push him back to the centre. The next GE will not be about Brexit so they must come up with policies to keep those northern Tories onside.

I do hope not....he's already a bit of a 'wet' as it is. Mind you, that's in old Tory speak....for the modern Tory party he's on the right of the party.

I'm supposed to be going to bed but it's too compelling. This is one of the few nights when politicians speak the truth. Just heard the Labour candidate for Stoke (they're still counting) He thinks he's lost and blames Corbyn very blunt with his comments so refreshing why can't they speak like that more often.

To an extent, but I think that context is allowed to explain away a lot of double standards. Still, regardless I think you'd should be allowed to say whatever the feck you want about anybody regardless. Jim Davidson for next Tory PM. Edited by Stirlingsays (13 Dec 2019 12.28am)

In addition to the fact his household earns many many times over the average national household wage yet he complains about any potential for a slight increase in tax, all while insinuating that a rebate should be in order for sending his kids to private school and paying for private healthcare. Back on message - all things considered I agree it will be very interesting to see how a clear majority performs over the next 12 months, but I still can’t see anything other than yet another extension occurring come the end of the year. Unless Boris really does move significantly towards the EU thus making negotiations easier. Either way people shouldn’t get too carried away if they voted solely on Brexit. Plenty of likely scenarios where you end up with a solution pretty close to Labours. Then what do you do?

The statement stands no matter what colour or creed, mainly because I didn’t say ‘Go back to your own country’ to someone that didn’t look quintessentially English, wearing a flat cap whilst eating pie and mash. Clear difference. Maybe he’s had too many Spitfires.

Anybody who thought a second referendum was a good idea is the problem. Possibly the worse of all options. Yeah you’re right. I still feel like people didn’t know what they were voting for though. Essentially the vast majority of those Tory MPs are going to be signed up leavers now. It's going to be a vastly different looking parliament. They are going to be cruising for a bruising with the EU for at least three years. I don't see them picking fights with Boris after he put them there. We will see.
