We have had 4 players in the same England squad in the past.

.

Was that Poland away in November 1991? GT, Gray, Salako and Martyn? I was going to say Wrighty, but he left in September, also didn’t we play the US in a friendly around that time and we had a few in there?

Yep. Pretty disastrous tour of US under Graham Taylor. Salako's performances were a bright spot in a team built around the skills of Carlton Palmer.

Did not know Guehi was born in Ivory Coast. He might come up with his fellow Ivorian Wilf in the coming friendly then...

So pleased for him, and not surprised. Unfortunate it's a friendly, as I want him declared for England.

Only yesterday I was reading up on him, and was surprised by two things, firstly his name is actually Addji Keaninkin Marc-Israel Guéhi, and secondly, he was born in Ivory Coast.

Sky Sports suggest Olise was close to a call up, despite his French U21 call up. He's definitely good enough for England, and unlike Guéhi, he was actually born in England. England have always struggled for left-footed players! We need him.

Finally, I agree that Mitchell is unlucky. There's not an anti-palace agenda - why would there be? It's not like we're in the Champions League or anything. But I'd be surprised if there are two better left-backs at the moment.

Getting Guehi closer to a full cap in a competitive match has a lot to do with it maybe . Southgate has said he did not want to weaken the U21's unnecessarilly them having euro qualifying matches . I havnt seen the u21 squad but would take a punt that Mitchell will be in that .

And we still need a striker

My good yes, Carlton Palmer, what a player he was especially when turnip head played him at left back against Norway, along with several others out of position
I know it was a proud time for us with several of our players getting caps, but it was an awful time for the national team

I always felt sorry for CP it wasn't his fault that GT thought he was our star player. He was an honest journeyman mismanaged by his manager.

Yep it was a weird fascination that GT had with Carlton Palmer. That was a strange time for the National team. It was a big change of players going out like Shilton, Butcher, Parker, Waddle, Lineker etc and a new breed coming in..

Taylors time with England was similar to Roy Hodgsons. Not very good but shouldn't be forgotten how good they were domestically.

Just been announced by the club that Rak-Sakyi & our new(next season) young striker from Derby, Luke Plange have been called up for the England U20's. This is LP's 1st call-up . . . [Link]

Paul Merson wondering on Sky if Chelsea have a buy back clause on Guehi…….yeah right, as if, they sold him to us thinking that’s handy, off loading a youngster for £18 million, I very much doubt they thought he’d make anywhere near the progress he’s made this season.

They have the right to match any offer made to us for him that we want to accept so if Manure etc. offer £50m for Guehi and we decide we'll take the money, Chelsea can come in with a bid for the same amount and get him back.

I’ve seen the article now, Seems a strange one to me, basically admitting you dropped a bollock letting him go in the first place, just shows some of the top clubs have more money than sense. Using your example price of £50 million, that would’ve cost them £32 million for us to basically help them with his development for a year, crazy!!

It's not that crazy.

Maybe they wanted a specific buy-back figure, but we refused to let them have it. So a 'matching' clause was a compromise.

I said somewhere else, it protects them from having us add £10m to an asking price, just because it's Chelsea, when AC Milan come in with eg. £50m.

Also, if say for example they did pay the £50m, for them to pay us the extra £32m to get a proven elite level PL player is expensive but at least the closest thing you'll get to a guarantee. They spent £58m on Morata, £40m on Tiemoue Bakayoko and various others who flopped. Regardless of the due diligence, it's always a gamble.

It is annoying the amount of articles that popped up in the last week or so implying Chelsea have this favourable deal in place, when in reality it just gives them first refusal if WE decide to sell him.
