For a poster who expresses their distaste for Trump, judging by your posts, you have a huge amount in common with him. You are both hilarious in your political expressions. ...and yet, somewhat scary

If I amuse you then fine. You must have an odd sense of humour. I don’t find Trump the least amusing.

The big difference is that I am enjoying an active retirement in which any work I do is primarily directed at trying to help those less fortunate than myself. Whilst Trump, who is almost my age, is seeking to become the leader of the free world again, after him presiding over 4 years of chaos and trying to subvert democracy. Now that’s really scary.

4 years of peace, economic growth, low inflation, low interest rate, jobs, low crime etc... America and the world was thriving! And will do so again unless the democrats rob the election again.

The Eisenhower 8 year presidency is often compared to the Kennedy years critically.

Yet Eisenhower gave America stability peace and growth albeit he was seen as an boring old man.

Kennedy on the other hand brought sexy to the White House and Hollywood glamour yet he almost brought America to nuclear war and failed to do anything about civil rights.

Eisenhower is seriously underrated as a President and Kennedy the opposite.

Does Democracy even exist ? Perhaps only in the imagination of some free-spirited thinkers. In practice, Democracy hasn't existed anywhere in the world in my lifetime.
Maybe a Dictatorship is actually the better option, and one that Trump advocates. At least things happen in a Dictatorship, rather than the paralysis caused by a Parliament consisting of many members and parties.
It's happening in the UK, has happened in the EU and NATO, where nothing is ever decided. The slow crawl of mutual consensus, where no blame can be apportioned to an individual.

Trump offers progression and actions. He has a proven track record.
And never has the entwinement of politics and Judiciary been so well-exhibited with the timely prosecution of Trump,

I don’t think you really believe that!

No democracy is perfect or incapable of improvement. That is not the issue. What matters is whether it is better than the alternatives and history emphatically suggests it is. You surely don’t need me to explain why? Whilst a benign dictator might be an effective way out of a short term crisis they invariably evolve into despotic regimes, crushing opposition and free speech.

The biggest problem we face with our democracies is whilst the need for improvement is clear the pathway to acquiring it is blocked, often by those who would benefit most from it. Especially in the USA where sheltering behind the constitution is seen as an imperative.

Your description of Trump made me smile! Sure he has a proven track record. A very, very bad one. He is a liar, a bully, is impetuous, doesn’t listen and most importantly doesn’t accept the judgement of the people. That you have swallowed the bs being dolloped out by the right in the USA that his legal troubles are all politically motivated is embarrassing to read in the UK. If there weren’t cases to answer no cases could exist. Justice works slowly and at arms length. That the system they have there means that politicians appoint the judiciary doesn’t mean that the judiciary cannot do their job. It just means that, especially in the Supreme Court, politicians can appoint those they believe are more politically aligned with themselves.

Far too simplistic. It’s worthy of a Trump meme or a piece in the Mail.

Every President inherits a legacy from his predecessor. Trump benefited hugely from Obama. Biden has had to recover from Trump. Economies take years to reflect political initiatives and are also severely impacted by events.

Trump was hit by Covid. Something that most probably lost him the 2029 election. He realised that at the beginning, which was the reason for him trying to sweep it under the carpet, blame China and be slow in reacting. Biden has picked up that mess but also had the impact of the Ukraine war to cope with, as have we.

Nobody closed down the world. The world had to react to an unknown virus in the most appropriate way local circumstances demanded in order to save lives and provide time for solutions to be found.

Trump was involved in that reaction at the beginning. Biden inherited the job.

Biden, or any imagined “proxies”, didn’t start any wars. Putin did. I am pleased to see the USA maintaining its commitment to NATO and not walking away as Trump threatened to, thus opening the door to Russia creep on the eastern edge of Europe. Maybe you are too young to recall the idea of a repressive regime to the east of us being a threat. Some of us aren’t.
