Don't think so. Bloye sold to Noades in January 1981, and the Whitehorse Lane end car park was sold to Sainsbury's later that year. I think you will find that the deal to sell to Sainsbury's was done before Noades bought the club.

SP has been quoted several times in recent past that he sees the huge potential in SE25 & the surrounding areas, being predominantly residential, for growing the fanbase which is why I said that. It would be great if the Club could become a focal point fro the wider South London community after all, there's no-one else worth bothering with this side of the river

Even beginning discussions about moving there would soon make Sainsbury's come to the table for the upgrading option at Selhurst.

I thought we were trying to drive a hard bargain, not make them an offer they'd regret. If we moved the land would be sold for homes, including lots of flats for people that need to shop for food.

The problem with South Norwood recreation ground that's in between selhurst station and Norwood junction is that the train lines going to both stations make it half the size. If it wasn't for that and home owner objections it'd be perfect. If it didn't have the train lines plot would be large enough. Edited by Rudi Hedman (03 May 2017 4.51pm)

I doubt Norwood Lakes would happen due to objections and the transport links aren't great and there's pretty much one main road and bits with speed humps.

It's the price of memberships that kills it for the youngsters - Maybe palace should set aside a few 'Dad & Lad' taster tickets for each game that don't require memberships - just purchase from the box office and show ID etc if that's needed. Then they can 'try before you buy' and need to take out a membership for future ticket purchases. Selhurst has a magic atmosphere which many other clubs can't match. Once local kids have been to a Palace game they tend to be hooked by the atmosphere alone.

For right or wrong modern football doesn't work like that....and while keeping the youngsters interested is important in the lower leagues I'm afraid the reality is the larger clubs don't need to do that much. Palace tickets are in demand as they are and they could sell many more than they do. I'm afraid the reality is that premiership football just isn't a very viable sport for the working class, 'just getting by' money anymore. Not going anything like regular anyway. For the football players and their agents it's a feeding frenzy. It's the marketplace and the marketplace doesn't really care about fathers and their lads...much as that is annoying. Until football becomes less popular amongst the youngsters, which would eventually feed though as they grow older then it's never going to change.....And while I personally beleieve modern football culture needs a huge ethical kick up the arse...I don't ever see it happening. In terms of going to matches I'd recommend supporting a lower league team where football is actually affordable to the financially responsible working class wage family. It doesn't mean giving up on Palace...It just means being realistic about going. Edited by Stirlingsays (03 May 2017 5.37pm)

As already touched upon, there's nothing Sainsbury's would rather than for us to piss off. They'd improve their store and soak up plenty of trade from the new builds.
