The previous one didn’t and they only get mentioned when they are relevant. As many posters here are avid consumers of them they do get pointed out, as it seems many are unaware they are basing their reasoning on them.

I won’t disappoint you though.

Was the Mail circulating a conspiracy theory in their piece or just exploiting one devised by a right wing think tank?

Or were they reporting facts from a source they deemed reliable. Instant dismissal of anything appearing in certain national newspapers is propagating a conspiracy theory in itself.

I see the usual gang are teaming up to jump on any weaknesses they perceive in a point I have made as part of another discussion. This one being how we all are related to African ancestors, even if some of them came from Asia makes no difference! It’s just not that important. What is important is that we are all humans who didn’t originate in Europe. Our ancestors were immigrants.

Why the fact that the origins of modern humans is the subject of anthropogenic debate matters, beats me. All involved in this seem to accept that Homo sapiens evolved in Africa ( which was what I said) and any mixing was with other human species.

[Link]

I will quote the first paragraph of the conclusion of the comprehensive analysis provided above:-

“Although the modern human origins debate continues, there are signs of agreement on some general points, and it is clear that genetic data, from both living populations and from ancient DNA, have played a major role. Both geneticists and paleoanthropologists have increasingly accepted an initial African origin of modern humans.”

They reported some facts, but ignored others, thus presenting a picture topped by headlines that their readers already believed and were ready to have confirmed.

That’s not reliable journalism is it?

It’s much more akin to propaganda.

Many of the posts on this issue refer to a perceived threat to our future as a “white” nation. Which we already aren’t.

The way being “white” is referred to here as something obvious, real and unarguable has always made me wince when I read it. The idea that people still think in this way in 2023 just doesn’t feel right to me.

So I looked for some background on how and why this phenomenon has arisen and came across this. I know many here don’t respect the Guardian but try to hold your nose. It’s an interesting analysis, if you have some time, patience and an open mind:-

I've made the point before but it's a highly relevant point in terms of what social liberalism has done to the Tory party.

The only reason we are seeing strong words on immigration, both legal and illegal from ethnic Tories like Braverman and Badenoch is precisely because Cameron blocked (just as Starmer is now doing to the left in the Labour party) any social conservatives or indeed any non liberal Tories from MP selection.....Which of course has alienated the MP base from much of its grass roots support base.

The only reason that traditional Tories like Braverman and Badenoch weren't blocked from selection was due to the 'positive selection' that Cameron also brought in that meant being not white meant you were advantaged. Otherwise he would have never allowed them through to selection.

It illustrates how democracy is nothing to do with giving people what they actually want but instead giving them only the options that the elite class allow.....which is usually sh1t sandwich option one or sh1t sandwich option two.

Similar to having to choose between controlled nursery home options in the US.

You may as well say 'vote for the red team or the blue team' as that would be the best differentiation between the two.

Is all the talk on hear about ethnicity really of any value? When it comes to immigration surely such things as capacity, education, religion, culture etc. are far bigger factors than people's aesthetic appearance (although this will always be associated with geographical regions and ultimately indicative of the aforementioned)?

It does seem somewhat futile to label people as 'racist, xenophobic etc.' when they say they don't want their relatively tiny space on this planet, and the technologically, legally and to all other extents and purposes more mature civilisation they have established, stormed by desperate peoples from vastly different locales. That's just common sense surely?

I don't believe arguing about genetics at the dawn of our time is remotely relevant to the situation today. Braverman and co. will have the audacity to say the things they have done recently as it's pretty faultless logic but I suspect it serves more to win votes than provide evidence of intention to do anything meaningful about the situation. If anything it looks as though they are just shaking the hive to see all the bees start fighting furiously inside so they can capitalise on the outcome, whatever that may be.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I am not playing dumb. You are being dumb. No one disputes that the numbers have changed and will likely continue to change. What you fail to recognise is that the resulting people will also change. They will intermarry and absorb cultures. Unless people like you try to stop it by being unwelcoming and make people turn inwards to find shelter in their original culture.

For sure we need to do more and must rigorously promote British culture and insist all new arrivals are exposed to it and are expected to sign up to it. Choose to live here and that’s the deal. No arguments. Sign here.

The idea that a multi cultural society in which many different values could exist side by side equally was always a non starter. British culture needs to dominate in Britain, whilst respect for others can be shown.

The current fossil record is completely inadequate and not sufficient to draw any solid conclusions on anything regarding our precise origins. Most of it is guess work.

Our genetic heritage and the culture that goes with it will not survive the current numbers arriving here if that continues and increases, as it surely will.
Your stupid assertion also depends on the physical integration of arrivals with the existing population. That is not happening in the real world.

Now I'm done with debating this with someone who cannot understand simple principles, doesn't live in the real world, and just argues for the sake of it.

Braverman is certainly going for it.

Irrespective of her political motivations, she is absolutely right in what she is saying.
She is very brave for saying it, and if European leaders ignore her they will be condemning us all to civil war and ultimately, the virtual extinction of European genetic heritage and culture.

I find total abstinence works well, taking the mick might amuse us but it's a very soft target to be fair and would have no effect.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

What the grass roots want, and know would be successful in their area has often been ignored by all parties, but the Conservatives seem to have managed a large cabal of MPs with non Conservative values. Boris was a prime example, Osbourne, Cameron and the list goes on.

What about Truss ? The new Tory idea of giving away money you don't have and capsizing the economy. How did she last 49 days? We can never ever trust the economy to them ever again.

I think her idea of growth was fine, her timing and roll out was very poorly handled.

The economy has righted itself somewhat, especially compared to Europe.

The coming years will be tough all round whoever is in charge, there is no room for tax increases so it's difficult.

Hard to say what effect the Ukraine war will have as it is volatile and oil prices and food could jump again.

We are paying the price for choosing not to be energy self sufficient when we had the chance in 2010 to do what was required to have been beneficial today.

Fracking, new nuclear, whatever is available.
