Yes he is.. Plan A was blown so his history at CP is bring on defenders so we can try and save on a negative goal difference, he done it so many times, he basically gives up and this rubs off on the players for sure, no doubt Wilf!! Originally posted by CrazyBadger
I'm not advocating Roy out, because as you say, he's meeting his expectations... but when we're 2-0 down at 50-60 Mins, It would be nice if he show some attacking intent and (for example) take off a DM, and put of an AM, or CF, rather than like-for like? is he that worried about goal difference?

Ok, hands up, that was a rant from me. But the 'Roy out' brigade are just exasperating. Every time we lose, the same hackneyed phrases are touted. "No plan b", "won't use players with flair", "Always plays his favorites", "Dinosaur", "Football has moved on" etc.&etc. Hardly any of these posters are around when we win. They never give credit for finishing mid table. It's just they don't like the style of football. Well, to be fair, nor do I mostly. But if you want to debate it, then bring something to the table. Bielsa and Santo or not available, so not worth a mention. Dyche has been mentioned I believe, but that's a 'like for like substitution' (see what I did there?), as has Howe, who got relegated recently. I'll debate if you have a suggestion as to how we move to a different phase. I think that all the reasons the 'Roy out' brigade give are valid and i don't think it's the fans' job to identify a new manager. Unless you're a global manager scout (does that role even exist?) you're just not going to have the intel to know who will evolve our first team. I certainly don't, and neither do a lot of clubs which is why crap managers can walk straight into new jobs. But there's evidence that clubs (mentioned in this thread) with less resource than ours are able to identify these more progressive managers. It's not a cop-out and it doesn't make the reasons for being highly dissatisfied any less valid though. And it allows us to talk about the ingredients of a new manager, what we'd like to see, which is good stuff to get into conversationally. Edited by Frickin Saweet (07 Oct 2020 11.37am)

I'm pretty sure this is it. I can't think of one positive substitution when we go 2 down, he's happy to lose but keep the score down. He probably rationalises it as damage limitation. I can't begin to imagine how it motivates the players. Edited by southnorwoodhill (07 Oct 2020 1.49pm)

Benteke with a fabulous recent scoring record and Meyer who gets pushed out the way too easily. With those options what would you do?

Edited by southnorwoodhill (07 Oct 2020 1.49pm) on the Flip side of this, how often have we gone into the final throws of The season saying 'our goal difference is worth another point' ? If it Wasn't for this attitude in games, we wouldn't have this.

Yes we were and I was calling for that sub before half time because we were not holding the ball long enough for the midfield to help out. This was exactly the sort of game where an early substitution and a change of tactics could have been beneficial and tilted it in our favour. We’ll never know though because we just ploughed on regardless! I want to see some ballsy calls by Roy, not just hoping we are going to get something out of it despite being totally outplayed. It will be Eddie Howe, Carl on Twitter reckons our new manager is taking a break from football or will it be Poch?

Desperate stuff here. Benteke good at holding the ball up ? Since when ? For a bloke of his size it’s absolutely pathetic and his complete lack of contribution at times has been as big a problem as his goal scoring.

Putting our board on comparison with other premiership clubs. City, United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, and Arsenal are in a different league, but only Liverpool and Spurs are run efficiently. Leicester have spent loads and done a fantastic job, Wolves have also done very well too. West Ham, Southampton, Brighton, Newcastle Leeds, and Everton are all far less efficient. I wouldn't swap our owners with theres. We've overtaken Fulham and West Brom in recent years. Jury is still out on Sheffield United. Pound for pound the only club out performing us has been Burnley. Not to mention all the clubs that have been religated since CPFC 2010 took over. QPR, Hull, Cardiff, Swansea, Watford, Sunderland were all light years ahead of us a decade ago. Out of all the clubs that haven't received massive investment, we are one of the best run clubs in the country. With the 9th biggest wage bill, we have very little wriggle room to invest more based on our income. Effectively, we are the second best run club of our size and resources in the country.
