Got my heart broken at the age of about 18. It was weird because people have always said I was too young, but it was not the case. It's horrible the introspection that all people on the receiving end seem to feel but posters have got it right. You eventually do emerge stronger, but more cynical.

Next thing: for all those people who have suffered, what would your reaction be to a sudden phone call from the ex, abject in apology and desperate to make up? Truthfully, now...

This happened twice to me. Different girls. Both dead sorry, etc, etc But my 'mates' all said I'd be mad to get back with either of them.

Thet were right, even if they are all BHA fans. the splitters!

in answer to the phone call question moose, i honestly don't know.

And after all the years and all the heartache, and the fact I'm happily married with a kid, I don't know either.

Goodness is what you do. Not who you pray to.

I always hoped my ex-wife would call at first. And yes I would have taken her back.
But now having emerged stronger and wiser and more aware of when people are taking the piss - NO way.
It would still be nice to have had the call though.
Still, we get on fine now and she sent me a christmas card saying I was wonderful!!

(You guys knew that already!)

You fed me, you bred me, I'll remember your name.

This sort of happened to me ... I met a girl from Swansea ... moved to Swansea to be closer to her ... she dumped me the night I put a lease down on a house, we were on and off for the next 6 months and she made it very clear she wanted me to go back to London, as I felt I didn't fit in there, I was more than happy to do so ... a few weeks after moving back to London, she phones saying she misses me blah blah blah ... and would we get back together again ... I said ok ... but only on my terms this time ...nothing came of it!

One of the reasons she dumped me was I was "too much of a gentleman" and "put her needs first too much" ... to me that means she likes being beaten up? Is this normal?

They say hard work never hurt anyone ... but why take a chance?

So you'd consider it even though you have a wife Moose?

It was my dream to play for Palace and to make my debut. I've always played for the club so if I'm playing here, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Most of the women in my life have broken my heart. Apparently I'm too 'nice'. If someone can enliten me on that one, I'd be grateful.

The best one:

Been going out with said girl, err, two months. Went to her mum and step dads wedding. She dumped me at the reception, then stood on a chair and shouted, "Ladies, I've just dumped this sad tosser. He's all yours, but I'll warn you he's s**t in bed!"

To say I was emotionally destroyed would be an understatement.

Begin the mockery...

Not being a woman i wouldn't know, BUT surely this is just a case of the 'man spectrum' with overly nice men being the kind of infra-red out of sight for women type and wife-beater men being the ultra-violet -unseen by the female eyes type.

reading this thread has made me register for the site.

Here's my story.

When I was 17 I worked at a local supermarket and fell for a girl that was 6 years my senior. I was besotted by her. I lived breathed and dreamt her. She was the talk of the store as she was so pretty every guy wanted her. Thing was she was married. Now I was never the most confident of guys when it came to women so I realised I had more chance of going to Mars then dating her. Anyway, whilst stacking my baked beans I would often notice her walking by me. I would smile and sometimes she would smile back. I thought nothing of it until one day I found out that in fact she was not married. I even found out that she was now single.

Whilst in the supermarket canteen I noticed an invite to the companies Valentine day party that Saturday evening. Me and a few lads decided to go. A friend of mine new that I really liked her and asked her to dance with me. The song was "Me and Mrs Jones". To this day I remember her smell I remember her touch like it was yesterday. I was in seventh heaven. We danced for a few songs bit nothing more. The next day I thought top myself that I HAD to take this further so I sent her some flowers. To my surprise she called me and invited me for dinner. We were an item.

That was the good part... I fell head over heals in love with her.. I lost friends and distanced myself from my family all for her.

I soon started to notice that I was doing all the running and she never did anything for me. I was being taken for granted.. but I didn't care...

Then came the evening I went round her house and found her snogging my best friend. Heartbroken is nothing compared to what I felt.

Sorry for the thread.. kinda got carried away.

Now I am happily married and look back and laugh and think what a mug I was..

well I had to continue working with her for 3 months which was terrible. Eventually I got another job and never really saw her again..until I saw her a few months ago by chance. Pleased to say that I never felt any emotions towards her. Time is a great healer and all that.

Women hey
