I agree, this guy deserves the chair. His upbringing also seems to have been on an almost criminal footing. America.....A great country.....unfortunately has its fair share of nut jobs.
They've been talking about changing the gun law there for years. And i bet even arfter this nothing gets done despite Obama saying he will review the gun laws.
Unfortunately the NRA over there is very powerful and the country is obsessed with its constitution.....Which is regards as an almost religious document. Love the country...And they are our cousins in many ways.....But they are also probably the biggest keepers of nut jobs in the western world. It's amazing how many American 'flat earthers' you find on Youtube for example.

It's quite important to stress, for those who don't know, that the second amendment to the US Constitution does NOT guarantee the right to bear arms. Rather, its interpretation is a matter of long-running legal debate. What it says is: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." One interpretation of the above, and it's the one that presently holds sway in the Supreme Court, is the "individual rights theory" which, more less, can be interpreted as congress being unable to prevent any nut-job from buying a hand-gun. Another interpretation, which held sway for almost 70 years until 2008, is the "collective rights approach", which largely interprets the second amendment as being to ensure the effectiveness of the military. It was under this interpretation that the court was able to ban sawed-off shotguns which, after 2008, Americans presumably see as appropriate weapons of choice for the defenseless suburbanite. Anyway, it's a long and complex subject that I'm not expert in and I don't propose to go into it here but those spouting very simplistic definitions of far from clear legislation should be careful to become better informed than some posters appear to be.

So,not simply a crazy kid with a gun. Anyone who gets so fired up with anger at anything as to drive for an hour to a place of religious worship,sit with people doing a bible study group for an hour and then try to kill them with a gun likely has some mental health issues I would think.Below is a Washington Post article with a view on dangers of putting down the shootings to simply the actions of a "deranged" youth. The difference is that their nut jobs have easy access to guns. Were that the case here, we'd have the same problem. That's why you have gun laws (or not, as the case may be.) Mental illness is pervasive in almost all industrialised societies. The right to bear arms isn't.

Then you get the argument if everyone in church was armed then fewer would have been killed. But I doubt the average yank is an expert marksman, so you get 50+ people blazing away with assorted weapons and how many end up getting shot by others in the congregation? Every time there's a shooting there are calls for more control, but even on HOL we get people in the U.S. claiming America is safer then Britain because they carry guns, and they cite the occasions there is a shooting here

Is he a 'thug'....Man, he's much more than that....He's mass murdering scrum....No pun intended. What I don't subscribe to is the tone of the article. Racism in America is a factor for everyone...There is definitely a problem but it's also a tinderbox that the media and groups heighten and misrepresent to push their own agendas.

It could be argued that many in the US ignore or down play the ongoing reality of deep rooted and widespread problems with multiculturalism to suit their own agendas and that this stokes the tinderbox to a greater degree.
