It looks like the end game is upon us.

As Harold said, 'will no one rid us of these onion eaters!'.....Albeit he'd have to expand that menu somewhat.

And I talk only of the over powerful EU gravy train institutions, not of most of my fellow Europeans.

There will probably be a shortage of onions. People will have to use leeks instead.

I don't think the problem is a lack of evidence.

The problem is a lack of admissible evidence.

Our security services possess the evidence but they are not going to appear in Court to give it. They risk compromising their sources should they do so. So they never do so, as a matter of policy.

Carole Cadwalladr has strong contacts within our security services, which is how she broke the Cambridge Analytica scandal in the first place. She knows the truth, but knowing and proving are two different things. Hearsay evidence, even from immaculate sources, isn't admissible.

The truth will eventually be proved one day. Be patient.

How can you have such knowledge of what the security services know and don’t know? If you did because you have connections then you wouldn’t be sharing that information. Either that, or expect a knock on the door soon.

If there is a negotiated deal here, it is not a 'done' deal.

After the political leaders rejoicing, the member states will be picking through the details or lack thereof.

The ratification of the EU parliament is definitely not a 'fait accompli' here, and it is required.

All the UK had to do here was to extend so they had time to complete a comprehensive deal.

Ah the crunch of EU freedom.

As a matter of interest how much longer should we extend?

The EU have dragged out these negotiations the same as the withdrawal agreement. We wanted to start these talks in January the EU said March / April. Every time we have tried to speed them up with multiple threads the EU has blocked it and now they have the cheek to say we should ask for an extension.

If we have a deal agreed then of course it would make sense to extend the deadline from Dec 31 for say a month to allow the EU and our Parliament to ratify.

If a deal is not agreed this weekend I would walk away for six months by which time things would be a lot clearer and hopefully the EU more wiling to negotiate.

Time for Boris to walk away.

This can only be a basic deal due to the shortage of time, the details and matters not concluded will continue anyway.

Five years or so.

This is all politics and brinkmanship, rushing for a deal at any cost.

I see a logic but as the poster asked how long.
You say 5 years, it would then need 6 years and 7 years. A line is drawn so both sides need to get on with it. Problems are ahead but it wont be unilateral.

Shortage of time? Ffs how long has this been going on? 5 years, so to incorporate another election, hoping Keir “ we must remain at all costs Starmer” gets elected. Clever thinking well done
