How this is all ending today has a certain delicious irony to it. Starmer was instrumental in changing Labour policy from respecting the referendum result to not only calling for a second referendum but also then cheering on a second Remain option. A policy that was beyond any rational comprehension. And at that moment, handing Johnson the next election on a plate. Perhaps the biggest ever example of political self-immolation in modern history. That speech he gave at the Labour party conference in 2018 will be studied by generations of political students for decades to come. With his punishment being made leader of the Labour party and then suspending the man who led the party to almost winning in 2017.

With Labours second referendum a policy that was utter insanity given the electoral reality of the UK. Gifting Johnson an 80 seat majority. Might as well have put it in a shiny box and tied a lovely ribbon around it.

And now, a little over a year later, leading the Labour Party and whipping his MP's to vote for Johnsons deal.

Delightful. The kind of s*** you could not write as fiction.

Well done Sir Starmer. I am now convinced he was the Leave campaigns secret weapon. Our greatest double agent. A true Knight of the Realm!

Brexit is concluded today. And all thanks to one man. Ladies, Gentlemen and Naval Officers. I give you the leader of the Labour Party. My Brexit champion. A true national hero!

So you will be voting Labour at the next election ?

I'm still hoping they bring back Tommy Cooper night personally.

Indeed, we all are, and Bob monkhouse and Dave Allen to.

LOL. If Starmer carries on at this rate, maybe?

But probably not. He will, however, always have a fond place in my Brexit promoting heart. Now I am no cheer-leader for Johnson and probably share many of your own dislikes for him but back in December 2019 when that exit poll was released and I realised that Brexit was finally going to happen, I cannot describe the sense of relief I felt. A wonderful moment.

And that is in huge part down to Starmer. Without his intervention, it might not have happened. That always needs celebrating.

And now Corbyn planning to vote against it. This is top quality Political Pantomime. Absolutely priceless.

Imagine if you were in serious s**t, a murder charge or something, and Starmer was your QC?

I'd say don't bother with the trial, may as well get it over right now.

He is his eloquent self, listing Johnson's, and the deals numerous defects and, unlike most MPs he may even have looked at it.

Johnson is scratching his head, why then are you whipping your MPs in support of it?

If you were found not guilty by a majority of the jury, Starmer would request another vote.

This is where my idea of politics and most others vary. Starmer’s speech was probably based on how he felt about it rather than lying and making a party speech. On that basis alone I have more respect for the man.

The irony of British politics is that you must lie and cheat to get those on the fringes to vote for you. The whole basis of party politics is flawed as no-one who ever speaks how they really feel get anywhere. It’s why I don’t bother voting 90% of the time.
