That's us, brexit means born to lose.

Our sporting prowess achievements also disappearing in line with our national decline.

Becoming a bit player in the World.

It wasn't a warning. It was a statement of fact.

We are the sixth strongest economy in the world. That isn't going to change.

Yep and very relevant in terms of economic ranking. Countries don't rise and fall in the rankings in a few months, it takes years, so yes last November is very relevant.

Here's another one, closely related to the same subject from April 2018, forecast growth. China has been omitted but it will rank 1 or 2.

GDP is important for the global stage but any talk about India over taking us has to be dressed in reality.

Anyone who has been to India and gone outside the tourist area can see the poverty.

What matters for quality of life is the per capita income....in other words how much earned on average per person.

That's when the truth about non western countries is revealed.

The UK will have to accept that it can't compete and will fall further behind competing with countries like this unless there is a massive cultural change in the local UK populattion that will need to accept lower pay and higher productivity. Otherwise, we'll continue to see exactly what's decsribed in that news article.

That's when the truth about non western countries is revealed.

There is a very different work ethic in countries such as India. That work ethic is and will continue to undercut that of countries like the UK. India has and is continuing to become a high tech economy, I know, I've been there on business and they have massive momentum in these industries.

Work ethnic indeed!

The real wealth of a country is in its living standards and India has some of the worst poverty in the world. We were giving this country actual aid up until recently.

When you look at countries like India and China per capita the real truth is revealed.

The UK comes in at around twenty two and India around 130.

yep and that agrees with what I was saying. Still lots of low cost and educated labour in India in high tech industries such as technology. That's where the growth is now and into the foreseeable future. If you can do that with a large, low cost work force then you win. India is perfectly placed for that and then China will follow after India.

What do they 'win' though? The right to work long hours for relatively low pay and to perhaps buy some of the luxuries that Westerners can afford. Hardly likely the government or companies involved will invest money in raising general living standards in these countries. Luxembourg has a sh!t economy by your argument - where would you rather live, work and raise your family: India, China or Luxembourg?.

Growth for now.....I'd agree. But this was about comparing these countries to western nations.

Also, automation is going to destroy this advancement for these countries. Investment will re-direct to less corrupt societies.

At least in the probable short term.....economic predictions are a notorious unwise hobby in terms of accuracy.

We were still '5th' in April according to the World Economic Forum.
