Sorry to hear you have difficulties getting out.

FYI neither Easton nor St. Pauls have become no go areas for "whitey" or the police. It's still perfectly possible to stroll down Stapleton and City Roads after dark without coming to grief.

I've read a lot about no-go areas recently but am yet to actually find one.

I'll take your (and Dan's) word for it.... you've both been there more recently than I have it seems.

I haven't ever felt confident enough to "stroll" in either location since I arrived here, and car journeys through there have been kept to a minimum too.

With my current health issues I doubt that I will ever stroll much of Bristol again sadly.... tis a fine City.

Good to see that there is a limit to how many people you would like to see living here Michael?

Clearly 8 Billion worries you.... but what at what level would you be uncomfortable?

I think 70 million here would have our infrastructure creaking and groaning like a U Boat on the Ocean floor.

I think it's about 65 million or so now and just normal population growth in 10 years could take us to 70 million without more pouring in, in the meantime.

Interesting that people are vilified for being global warming deniers but it's OK to be totally in denial about the consequences of population growth and the migrations that it will cause. I think I know which will have the most immediate effect.

London is the least densely populated of the SuperCities and even less so than Barcelona, and Glasgow and Liverpool have just more half the population that they did 60-70 years ago. The dynamics of the country will dictate how well we adapt. Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland have a very low density for European countries so ideally investment, jobs, infrastructure should be more directed in places where they can take the strain better. They have just finished building a new town near Exeter - 3,000 homes - own schools, doctors and train station, eco-friendly, etc. A well managed project. Us Brits like our space whereas others have adapted. Tokyo, for example. Unfortunately, our space will get less but it's how that is managed will result it how much is felt negatively. Nobody is in denial about population growth but for those countries where it is having/going to have the biggest negative impact what on earth do you expect them to do about it?

I'm most concerned about Britain. The world population will effect us as I have said many times. That is why we have to control our borders.

The world is already doing something about population but the positive effect will not be seen for at least 200 or more years if so called experts can be believed. That is too late to avoid a major crisis of resources.
